Dear Family,
My name is Manuela Palacio, and I was born in Colombia in 1996. I hold a strong belief that children are the future of society and I would love to be a part of your family as a support system in your daily routine while cultivating a long-term relationship. I am a resident of Medellín, a bustling city where the people are hard-working, passionate about their jobs, and always willing to lend a helping hand.

Regarding my experience with children, I have volunteered in several editions of the one-day event “Santa for a Day” at my university during Christmas. I was also part of the Sunday church for kids in a Christian foundation, where I had to plan and execute several games related to the religious topic. I have taught math, chemistry, English, and physics to elementary and high school students since 2013 as a private teacher to reinforce their homework. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to take care of my relatives' children during family reunions and trips, through activities and random moments where we just discover something special, such as ant behavior or cloud shapes.

I share many fond memories with Sebastian (12 years old) and Adhara (4 months old), my cousin's toddlers. Sebastian and I have undertaken thematic park expeditions, homework, and house duties together. My favorite moment is preparing food and reading a book together. He dreams of becoming a sportsman or musician, and I am his #1 fan when he has training sessions and performances. Adhara is just a baby, and I feed her or change her diaper while we have conversations about how beautiful her smile is. Once a year, when I travel to Montería, I spend time with my younger cousins, José Daniel (12 years old) and Abraham David (9 years old). These brothers are the smartest children I have ever met. We have interesting conversations trying to solve questions like how to move a car with sunlight, if YouTubing is a viable career path, or why being a parent is so expensive. They run everywhere and speak loudly, even in public spaces, but I have learned how to channel their energy through games, songs, and dances while promoting positive behavior.

I am motivated to support my host family with the children's care and home duties in the best way possible. I will put in my best effort to fulfill the family's needs, assist in the upbringing of the children, and build a beautiful relationship with the kids and parents. After finishing the amazing working year abroad, I plan to return to Colombia and be ready for a new professional position.

Personally, it is amazing to see this experience as an opportunity to share the Colombian culture. I expect to grow up as a person during this stage, I plan to make new friends and to learn more about Asia because I find your history interesting. I am open to adapting to a new lifestyle, schedule, language, and of course, a new lovely family. This experience is a fantastic opportunity for me, and I promise to be the best Au Pair that I can be.

I try to live a healthy lifestyle, eating well, going to the doctor regularly and exercising. I believe in God and I think that ethics are very important in society.

I hope to meet you soon.

Sincerely,
Manu.
