Dear family,
My name is Mildreed Garzón, I am 28 years old, and I am Colombian. I am from Sogamoso, Boyacá, but I live in Bogotá D.C. for my current job. I am Pharmaceutical Chemist, although my profession is not focused on children, I also like to spend time with them. Currently, I am part of a community where I am preparing to be an au pair, participating in psychopedagogy, neuroeducation, and pedagogy workshops.I am a responsible person, committed and willing to share knowledge with others. I
I have experience in learning children in special conditions with an emphasis on sports and recreation, the children were between approximately 9 to 12 years old, we did activities such as rounds and ball games. I have taken care of my nephews since they were born until they were 6 years old, we go to the park, we paint, and we prepare the food at home. I have shared activities with the daughters of my friends, such as putting together puzzles, we sing and swim, they are between 2 and 10 years old. I have taught crafts and makeup classes to children from 3 to 7 years old, always strengthening their learning processes and their development through pedagogical experiences, I have approximately 10 years of experience in childcare. Now, I would like to volunteer with children in my city, I am applying to some foundations.
My mother tongue is Spanish, currently my level of English is A2, I can have simple everyday conversations, although I can read English well. Also, I am studying English virtually, but I would love to improve the language by practicing it in your country.
My interest in living this experience is basically to transform my vision of childcare almost full time and to be able to contribute to their global learning, adapt to a different culture and improve my level of English. Also, I would like to share my cultural experience with the children, teach them my language, help them in their daily tasks, and do many activities with them, such as cooking, walking, swimming, dancing, and sports. However, my life project in the medium term, I plan to continue it in my country of origin, and I plan to return once I finish living the Au pair experience and achieve my goals.
My expectations with this experience are to have an assertive relationship with my host family, to enjoy a pleasant atmosphere at home and that we can share my tastes and theirs, I would also like to improve childcare according to their needs, I want to improve Significantly my level of English and the level of Spanish of the children and enjoy the culture of the host family and my culture.
