My name is Paula Rodriguez, I am 26 years old, Colombian professional psychologist. I would like to share with you the most important things in my life. I consider myself a cheerful, sociable, funny, loving, noble person, a lover of cats and a lover of childhood occurrences since they bring out our inner child. I also consider myself a homebody, however, when I go out, I like to go to know little towns, places, or nearby cities, since it is gratifying to get out of the routine and breathe another air. On the other hand, I am a very close person to my family, so I like to spend as much time as possible with them, whether it is watching movies, visiting restaurants, playing, cooking or sharing experiences. In addition to that, I like to learn about different topics, that is why I am currently part of a community that helps me to prepare myself as an au pair, here I have been able to participate in workshops from which I have learned about psycho-pedagogy, neuro-education and pedagogy.
I am from Bogota city, I currently live with my parents, who work with a company that distributes sugar, and my siblings, my older brother works with a pharmaceutical company and my younger brother is in third grade. My relationship with them is very good, we all support each other in all our processes after a traumatic situation that happened a few years ago. For me family is everything because everyone comes and goes, but family is forever, they are the ones who will always be there for you, that is why the bond between us is sacred.
In 2019 I graduated as a psychologist, I also completed a diploma course on intervention and prevention of bullying in educational settings, an international seminar on updates in clinical psychology, and some courses related to the office package.
In my free time I like to sing, because it is a way to express what I feel, I also like to watch series and movies, play volleyball, occasionally exercise, go out with my family and friends, play with my little brother pillow fight or any game that comes to his mind. About a year ago I was volunteering in a corporation for people with disabilities where I applied what I studied to support them and help them get a job, through tips, tools and role playing.
I attribute my experience with children mostly to my little brother, since I have been like a second mother to him. Since he was a baby I have been changing his diapers, preparing his bottle, helping him with school activities and doing cognitive stimulation activities with him. Nowadays, he is more autonomous but I still help him with his homework, I prepare his meals when my parents are not there and we spend most of the day playing. When I was in high school I did my social service in a kindergarten, where I helped the children with their homework, I helped them to feed themselves and I also helped them with their personal care. In college I had some subjects in which I had interaction with foundations of low-income children where we sought to make cognitive stimulation with them, through playful, manual, field activities, among others. It is worth mentioning that I have had experience with children from 0 to 10 years old, and that my social service and my interaction with the foundation lasted one year each.
What motivates me to be an au pair is the vocation and love I have for children, I would like to learn from them, from a new culture and their social environment. Also, because I want to improve my English level, broaden my horizons and get out of my comfort zone. Likewise, I am motivated to support and help the family that chooses me with their children to whom I will give the best of me, with my knowledge; teaching them my language which is Spanish, my customs and culture.
My language skills are the following, in my school and university I studied English where I have a B1 level, I am also studying Portuguese in the company where I currently work, in this language I have a B2 level, finally, I speak Spanish as native language.
I really have high expectations about this trip because I want to meet new friends, new countries, new histories, cultures, gastronomy, new languages, other subjects of study and study some of them, to continue growing personally and professionally.
To finish my letter, I just want to say thank you for reading until the end, I am so excited to hear from you and answering all your questions you may have.

Kindly,
Paula.
