My name is Melissa Zapata Amaya, I am 24 years old, I am from Medellín-Colombia and I am finishing my last semester of Psychology, I am a woman who likes music and sports very much, since I was a child I have practiced different sports, such as skating, swimming, basketball and soccer, in addition to being orderly, responsible, and empathetic. I like to take on challenges and show myself that I can achieve them, I try to find the positive side to the adversities that I go through, I like teamwor
My family is from Medellín, although my father was born in the city of Cali, I have an older sister, I live in Envigado with her, with my 3-year-old niece and with my dog, which I consider part of my family, my father´s name is Alexis Zapata, he is an geologist engineer and he is 59 years old, my mother´s name is Gladys Amaya, she is 56 years old. I have a boyfriend, with whom I have shared many years of my life, for which he is my family too, because they are the people who have most influenced my life and who have always have supported.
I graduated as a Bachelor in 2013th at the Liceo Francisco Restrepo Molina, after this, I did 2 semesters of Civil Engineering, but then I discovered that my vocation was psychology and I began to train in this in 2016, I will finish my studies in psychology on December of 2020th , I have a diploma in mental training in soccer and a diploma in clinical psychology. I have done several English courses in different academies.
I have always really liked sharing with children, my most direct experience has been with my niece, since she was born as a premature baby and babysitter and since she was born I have been with her, for which I have attended many of her care and learning, I have participated in their learning when it comes to talking, walking, going to the bathroom, among others. In addition to this, I have taken care of the children of two neighbors, one of them took care of him from 6 months until he was a year old and a half, with the other baby I shared 6 months, with them I liked to play, sing, teach them to walk and talk, it has been one of the processes that I have enjoyed the most. I also had the opportunity to accompany the process of the son, a cousin, whom I took care of when he went on vacation from school and she worked, that was when he was between 5 and 7 years old, and when he was younger I took care of him for days on several occasions, When my cousin had some problem, I was the one who looked after him, this was when he was between 3 months and 2 years old. I have learned thousands of things from each of the children I have been with, they teach me with each of the things they say, they teach me about their innocence, tenderness and imagination, since they also draw a little from my inner child, and make imagination fly a bit too.
My official language is Spanish, but since I was little my dad has taken me into English classes, for which I have taken different courses, and I have an intermediate level of this, which I would like to perfect and make it my second language.
The reason why I want to become an Au Pair, is first of all because I like to share with children and learn with them, of all their innocence and joy, the second is because this is a great opportunity to improve English, and if It is possible, to learn another language that can enrich my training, in addition to being able to know and interact with different cultures that allow me to grow as a person and open myself to new opportunities, and also bring a little of my culture to the people with whom I am going to interact now.
