Au Pair from Mexico studying in France, 22 years old, looking for an au pair position with a kind family starting from 1 July !

Dear Host Families,

Hello, my name is Montserrat. I'm a 22 year old Mexican student in Illustration and Animation currently living in the beautiful city of Lyon, France since 2016. I come from the middle part of Mexico, a small charming town called Aguascalientes.

I consider myself as an open minded individual, very curious about all what is out there to see and learn. I'm interested in creating and experimenting what I can do with my hands both in arts and culinary skills, I am not the best cook but always enthusiast to share my best recipes with family and friends!. I also try to practice and have present a stoic, relaxed and down to earth mindset when focusing on important tasks.

Living abroad for so long, far away from home and my family, working all this time with children helped me to know more and understand myself better, these experiences gave me the opportunity to grow in maturity and patience.

In 2016 when I was 18 years old I had the chance to move abroad after high school, I lived in the northern region of France as Fille Au Pair with a lovely host family for 10 months and studied Arts and French besides my au pair duties. I took care of two little girls aged 2 and 5 and a regular day would be picking them up from school in the evening, going back home to have some snacks, play or do homework and giving them a bath. I would regularly take the girls to the park, extracurricular activities, events in downtown and of course cooking dinner whenever was needed.

In 2017 I moved to Burgundy and had a second great au pair year with a family of wine makers and took care of their 3 girls aged 5, 7 and 9 years old while I continued my studies in Lyon at the same time. A regular day would include take care of the girls in the afternoons and sometimes all night long if both parents were absent traveling and working, preparing dinner, homework, making sure they had a shower or bath, brushed their teeth... a basic before to bed ritual. I was oftenly required to travel with the girls by train to Paris and move along with them between subway stations to meet up with the parents.

In 2018 I moved to a larger apartment by myself in Lyon city to have more flexibility with my school schedule and more free time to study and concentrate into my art. However I still manage to have a part time job as an after school babysitter for two little girls aged 3 and 6 years old that I currently still take care of.

I'm part of Scouts movement since I was 13 years old when I was back in Mexico where I oftenly had to entertain camps and activities for the youngest scouts in the group, I then continued this hobby in France where I also was in charge of a small group of "louveteaux" (term we designate to younger boys in a group).

All these experiences were delightful and I am still in contact with the first two host families so I can eventually provide references from all my previous employes and scout chefs if needed !

I'm interested in classical music and music in general, scouting, nature, yoga, books ( the most recent book I read was Homo Deus by Yuval Noah Harari), cooking, wine history and it's compositions, art in almost all its representations and scientific investigations about bees and gardening.

Being an au pair was the best way I got to experience the best part of French culture, living with such amazing families who helped me to become fluent in French, shared with me all their knowledge in wine, cheese, food, french manners, customs, humour and simply the best part of this lovely country that made me embrace myself proudly as one more French girl without abandoning my Mexican roots that I'm very proud as well and ready to share with you.
