Nanny/au pair from Kenya called Francis, looking for a job with a nice family, starting from 24 March 2020!
My name is Francis. I am Kenyan citizen. I am a social worker and working with the children and the elderly is my passion. I am a Tutor by professional and combining my sociology skills has enable me to stand out as a unique Nanny over the years since interacting with young and old across different borders and culture has increased my skills agreat deal!.
I am a humble man who adapts to new environment easily and I love helping people. Exploration, reading, socialization are my hobbies.
Committing my time and effort by participating in community affiliations and organizations; has always been my priority. I firmly believe in service and contributing my time. I'm always willing to learn while embracing challenges. I view new experiences as opportunities to develop and grow personally, professionally and academically.
I come from a family of 6: My father died while I was 12 yrs and since then I was raised up by my single mom. I missed that fatherly love as a child and I vow that I will be a big brother and as a father to the children and I don't want the child who needs social care to be lonely the way I was during my young days. I have 1 sisters and 5 brothers (whom I have been a big brother and a role model to them. I have tried to mold them to be who they are today as they have started their own families.
My life has been very busy revolving around the Community work creating some development projects for the elderly and also in the Children's Ministry in Kenya and abroad. My story is such one they call from low to middle to the high point. Over these years, I have come to develop a strong passion of serving the young and the old. I am also been open for challenges that have sharpened my focus and build up my experience. Being around children and the old motivates me and I feel at home. Whenever I am doing this service work, I feel complete.
I have worked as a Nancy Volunteer in Thailand South Africa, Uganda and Tanzania. I have realized that my potential is not limited to seeing that the host family live in peace and love. Many occasions, I have been a mentor, a counselor and a friend, skills that I bring along in your family. I don't see my host family as just a family, but also my brother and my sister whom I want to share my love and respect with. Its not only what they give back to me but what I also give back to them in return so we live and unite as a family. So my passion to serve your family is beyong the border.
I am so grateful to God who picks people from rags and place before them a high table where He rubs shoulders with Kings and Queens. I also thank Friends who for over the years, has given me an opportunity to serve and know them
My first language is, of course, Luo and I speak Kiswahili, and I am fluent in English. I started learning English in primary school, and it was also the language of instruction in the secondary school I attended. I have in addition been taking courses taught in English at university.
I long to learn from you about your country, your culture and ofcourse your language. I want to be there as part of your family and as we embrace love and walk in this life with smiles. I feel that a cultural immersion would do me a lot of good.
When it comes to child care experience, I have looked after children in both formal and informal contexts. Last year, as part of my university studies in child psychology, I spent a nine months internship period working in a children's home in Thailand, South Africa and Uganda. Among others, I provided after-school tuition to children aged between 5 to 10 years. I also organized for them and took part in recreational indoor and outdoor activities: we sang, danced, played games, role played, drew, painted, and narrated stories. We also visited the public library, the local animal park, went out on picnics and a camping trip.
At home in Kenya, I have involved in various elderly care programmes as well as initiating social programmes for the elderly for close to 15 years.
I have helped my mom look after my brothers and sister since birth since I am the eldest. Although my looking after them is now restricted since they are grown ups, as a teenager, I was nevertheless much more involved in caring for them on a daily basis. In addition, my three younger children, also spend a lot of time playing with our neighbour's two children Kibibi and Jozi ( aged 6 and 8 years), so from time to time I find myself in their ever animated company. I can comfortably say that I sincerely enjoy spending time with children.
When it comes to leisure, I take pleasure in the simple things in life. I enjoy being outdoors, being with my friends, going for walks, visiting places I have not been to, and reading a good book. I also enjoy reading novel books and on dull or rainy days, I often propose drawing and painting activities to my brother and sister and our neighbour's children whenever they come for company. Did I already mention that I love to watch movies and work in the online computer staffs as well as reading bible and participating in church activities?
As far as preferences are concerned, I am looking for a live-in arrangement with a host family, that would be happy to have me stay with and work for them for at least 6 months. I would also prefer looking after children aged between 6 months to 16 years. Lastly, although I am quite flexible, I would prefer to have working hours that would allow me to attend church activity or language classes. When my family heard that I want to go out and help a family, they were excited as that has been my passion as well as it will help me to earn a small stipend to support my family.
I would be happy to have the opportunity to speak with you: to answer whatever questions you may have about me or my childcare experiences; to learn more about your family; your interests and to know more about what you expect from the au pair arrangement.
Thank you very much for your in
