Au Pair from Canada, Taylor, 20

I have been involved in childcare for most of my life. I grew up watching and helping my mother run her own home daycare, and when I was 15, I began babysitting as well. Since then I have had experience babysitting children of all ages, and spent a year working at a daycare. I worked at a school age centre with children aged 4-9 years old. I spent most of my day with the kindergarten students, and led them in play based learning activities to help them learn their alphabet, basic maths, and basic science concepts. At the daycare I was in charge of a group of up to 10 children at a time. My favourite things about working at the daycare was being able to play with the children and see them smile when I came into work everyday. I enjoyed coming up with new activities and crafts that taught the kids new things and helped them develop their skills. Since leaving the daycare to continue with University, I find myself missing working with children. The idea of being able to care for a child, while travelling to a country that I love sounds like an ideal situation for me. I am a friendly, energetic, and gentle person. I find it easy to get along with children, and am able to get shy children to open up to me fairly quickly. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my friends, and studying language. I have been studying Korean at school since September 2018, and have been studying Chinese since September 2019. When on school breaks I really enjoy travelling. I have travelled to the USA, Mexico, South Korea, and China. If I were to chose to go back to any place, I would go back to Korea, as I would like to improve my Korean skills, visit more cities and landmarks that I have not yet seen, and spend time with my friends that live there.
