Dear Family,
Good Day, my name is Duane, 23 years old and I'm from the Philippines. I grew up being raised by my mom along with my brother who is 8 years younger than me. At the moment tho I'm currently living independently, away from my real family due to my work back in the capital city. I however spend most of my free time taking care of my neighbor's kids, nieces and nephews and also play basketball, video games swim and when I have more time to spare, watch series and play video games.
Growing my mom is always at work so my little brother back then is taken care by me, since we couldn't afford a nanny back then. Our day spent normally goes with us going to school me tending and preparing my brother and then accompanying him to and back from school. I also cooked meals for us during the weekdays and in charge of most house chores. In the weekends however, it's my mum that mainly takes care of most house chores.
During the weekends we would often go out Malling, shopping, playing basketball, swimming, playing games together and doing some karate. We also like travelling to some local places to unwind and relax whenever we are able to and those are memories I wish to relive by being part of the Au pair program.
I say relive, because as of the moment I'm currently living alone, independently in a flat. My bro's all grown up now attending college and my mom is living back at my grandparents place after getting sick and not able to work much also because of that illness. I do however, visit them from time to time because I really treasure my family and spending time with them is the least I can do for them.
During my free time I baby sit my neighbor's kids which I really enjoy doing. As I've mentioned earlier I really like reliving memories of my childhood taking care of my big bro, going out as a family together and travelling and by taking care of kids or babysitting it gives me a nostalgic sort of happiness when I'm taking care of my neighbor's kids cooking for them, playing and sharing stories together. I also help them with their homework too, teaching them what I know and with my proficiency in the English language with my experience back then as a part time English tutor, I'm able to also teach them how to properly speak English. They would also ask me to cook for them and with my experience attending a culinary school, it really helps a lot for the kids to enjoy and eat the meals I cook up for them
If chosen by your family as an Au Pair I would gladly expect to learn a lot from your family. So far I have been taking care of kids of my country and have even been like a part of the family for one. I would really like to experience on what's it is like to be part of another family but this time, of a different country and culture. I would like to learn lots about your country and if possible, be able to learn a new language. Even if it's going to be a short experience I would make sure to make the most out of it by providing my best to care for your family like it is my own, I really enjoy being a big brother and it would be an honor if you trust and choose me to be an Au pair and even though this might be my first time being as an Au Pair, my experiences taking care of kids will be a great advantage to be an au pair for your family.
