Letter to host family
Dear host family,
With this letter I would like to give you a first impression of me and my life.
My name is Melanie but everyone calls me Meli :). I live in “Brunn am Gebirge”, a little town near Vienna in Austria. I live together with my mum and my little sister (and my dog and cat).
My mother became a child minder when I was born. Because of that I grew up with around 10 kids around me every day. When I was little they were friends and playmates for me but when I became older they were like little siblings for me and I helped my mum every day taking care of them.
What I like to do in my free time: I love sports! I am doing sports my whole life now. When I was little, I was a ballet dancer. Then I started vaulting. I am very acrobatic so this was a great sport for me. I stopped vaulting after 4 years because I wanted to be a cheerleader. I have been a cheerleader for 7 years. But I nearly like every sport even if I am not good at every sport :D.
I also like photography. I love capturing good moments or photograph cities.
Why do I want to be an Au pair? First of all I absolutely adore children. They are just the cutest creatures in the world. Of course, they can be very exhausting and stressful but when they smile at you, you forget every trouble. I love teaching them new stuff and to do a lot of things with them.
The second reason is that I love the USA. The people there are so friendly and open-minded! I really want to live the American life and celebrate special days like Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, New Year's Eve and the 4th of July with you!
I also want to become more independent and mature, travel much and gain as many experiences as possible.
I will now tell you a bit about my childcare experiences.
When I was thirteen years old, my little sister was born. I always wanted siblings and by that time I thought it will never happen but surprise! I started caring for her since the first day she was born. I did everything: feeding her, playing with her, changing her diaper, learning her new stuff such as crawling and walking, rocking her to sleep and making her stop crying. The beautiful thing about our big age gap is that I saw (see) her growing up. I have witnessed her first words, her first steps and much more. I still take care of her every day. At the moment (she is 6 years now) I am teaching her to do a cartwheel.
I am the perfect Au pair. Why? Because I was in contact with children my whole life and I absolutely know how to handle them and how a child mind works. I am open for everything and I get along with everybody! I love trying new stuff and gain experiences. I am punctual, uncomplicated and well-behaved and you can always count on me, I promise! Your children would be in best hands because I am very caring and the wellbeing of your children is the most important thing for me.
