Octavia, 23 a Student from Zimbabwe, living in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa. Looking for an nanny/aupair opportunity with a really nice, friendly and welcoming family, starting as soon as August 2019.

My name is Octavia. I am a 23 year-old (female) Zimbabwean student. Although I currently live in Cape Town, South Africa, where I am one year short of completing my undergraduate studies in Politics, Philosophy and Economics at the University of South Africa, I actually come from Zimbabwe.
I come from a family of 5: My parents, Clarisa and Hector, are both employed in the Food and Beverage Industry (mother is a waitress at a Hotel and father works in Sudan as a hotel Manager). I have 2 sisters. My sister Monesha, who comes after me is 21 years old and is a 2nd year ICT student at Cape Peninsula University of Technology . My youngest sister Angela, is in grade 8 at Wynberg Girls High School in Cape Town as well.

My first language is, of course, Shona and I am also well-versed in the English language. I started learning English in primary school, and it was also the language of instruction in the high school I attended. I have in addition been taking modules taught in English at university.
When given the opportunity, i would love to learn Portuguese or maybe French for interest sake.

When it comes to child care experience, I have looked after children in only informal contexts. I have helped my parents look after my siblings from the time we relocated to South Africa. However my looking after them is now limited, due to them being more grown and mature and me having to take time out for school as well. From around the age of 15 i have been looking after the children in my family (uncle's son - i would baby sit him whenever the mother needed me to do so, from when he was 1year to when he was in pre-school, auntie's son - his been an absolute joy, been around to watch him grow from day 1 up until now, his 4, my parents's friends have younger kids roundabout the same age as my youngest sister, so i would watch over them if their parents would ask with the help of my sister, Monesha.)
I can comfortably say that I sincerely enjoy spending time with children.

When it comes to leisure, I take pleasure in the simple things in life. I enjoy being outdoors, being with my friends, going for walks, visiting places I have not been to, reading a good book, picnic by the beach front and great music. I also enjoy drawing, and i often propose drawing, painting or puzzle activities to my nieces and nephews when they come around.

I am currently at a cross roads in my life, very soon i will be done with school and i would need to pursue a professional career but I am yet to make up my mind concerning my future. So, at the moment, i strongly think taking time to calmly reflect on my future is needed. To this end, I think spending a year abroad would be particularly interesting.

As far as preferences are concerned, I am looking for a live-in arrangement with a host family(i am also just as comfortable with living in my own place), that would be happy to have me stay with and work for them for at least 6 months to a year. I would also prefer looking after children aged between 1 year to 10 years. I am quite flexible when it comes to working hours, however i would love to make time to attend language school if the opportunity is there.
