Au Pair from Scotland called Rina, 17, hoping to work for a fun family this summer (May 26th - 1st September)
Hello!
My name is Rina. I'm currently a high school student in Glasgow working towards my Advanced Higher qualifications. I love learning about languages different from my own and actually go to one of the only fully Scottish Gaidhlig high schools in the world. I speak English and Gaidhlig fluently and this year I'm working to get my Higher in French. I would also love to learn Spanish, which I know a little of, and also Japanese. I would love to be an au pair for many reasons. My mother was an au pair in Germany when she was young and I would like to follow in her footsteps. I would have loved to have younger siblings to take care of but unfortunately I don't have any so this could be an opportunity to experience taking care of children in a family setting. I would love to au pair in France or Canada in order to improve my French skills, or in Japan as I hope to study it in university later.
I love working with children. Every Thursday I volunteer as a Cub Scout leader where I organise lots of different activities for the 30 Cubs. We do lots of outdoor skills, such as environment awareness and knots, as well as indoor skills like cooking and computer skills. I really enjoy being a Cub leader as I get to share my own skills and hobbies with the children. In addition to this, I have a Saturday job at my school where I take care of young children, from 3-6 years old, and teach them games, arts & crafts all through Gaidhlig language. As I mentioned before, I also do babysitting a few times a month for family friends, particularly a young boy aged 2 and a girl aged 11 with Down's syndrome. I'm going to university in 2019 to study to be an English teacher.
My friends would describe me as a friendly, intelligent and hard-working person who still maintains a sense of humour. I live with my mother south of Glasgow and although I have no siblings, I often do babysitting for family friends. I have lots of hobbies such as knitting, reading, story-writing, walking and I'm also an Explorer Scout which keeps me busy.
