Au Pair from England called Grace, 19, looking for a a job with a nice family starting in mid February

Dear Family,

My name is Grace, I am 19 years old and live at my family home in London. After deciding not to go to university this year I decided I wanted to follow another path, learning a new language and experiencing a different culture. I am a kind, patient and easy going person who also understands that being an Au Pair comes with responsibilities, and I am sure that I will adapt to the new tasks and daily routines quickly and become a big help for you.

All I can ask for is patience, as I am determined to learn French, however have struggled to maintain the knowledge of this language, however I believe being in an environment with French speakers will help me overcome this barrier.

For 6 years I volunteered as a teachers assistant for Pre Primary Ballet, Primary Ballet and Grade 1 Ballet, and was working with children between the ages of 3 and 7. This lead to becoming a babysitter for people local to my home, cooking dinner for children and putting them to bed, helping them with homework etc. The youngest child I have looked after was a 9 month old baby and the oldest being 13. I was also a mentor for young people transitioning from primary school to secondary school, this meant that I would have one on one time with someone and become a familiar face in the hallways, someone to help them with their homework or simply someone to talk to if they had any concerns or where worried about something. This was a very rewarding responsibility.

Becoming an Au Pair abroad would not only be a new experience, it would give me more independence. Working with children/ young people is something I have wanted to do for a long time and is something I strongly consider taking further in the future, i.e. teaching children with special needs the art of dance.

My main interests have always orbited art, photography, film and dance. Creativity is my best area when it comes to problem solving and general art forms. Being dyslexic as a child I struggled with the academic side of studies however was able to apply this form of creative thinking into other forms of learning. I am very happy to help children with learning difficulties as I have had a lot of support from a young age and would have no problem with sharing new coping mechanisms to support a child's learning when helping with homework.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter,
Kind regards,

Grace Hankinson
