Dear family, my name is Siti and I am a 26 year old B.Sc graduate in Hospitality & Tourism. I currently reside in East Malaysia in a city called Kuching and it is only an hour and a half to Kuala Lumpur by plane.
My first language is English, and I converse with my family in Malay. I speak a conversational level of Japanese, of which I self-taught since the age of 15 and have a basic understanding of Spanish and French. I am a confident driver, and hold an international driving permit.
Children in various shapes, sizes and disabilities are gifts, and I absolutely adore their innocence and positivity. I find myself enjoying their ever animated company and can comfortably say that I sincerely enjoy spending time with children. And not surprisingly, I do want my own one day!
When it comes to child care experience, I have looked after children in both formal and informal contexts:
My parents both have extensive families, so growing up, I have always been around my smaller nieces and nephews, whom I was fond of and their age ranged between 1 - 12 years. When I was doing my degree, we did many projects with children, visiting children's home and organising activities for them. I have also worked with the deaf and mute, as well as wheelchair-bound during my time in university and I understand the challenges posed in caring for children with disabilities.
In my previous 2 years tenure with Soi Dog Foundation, a non-profits for dogs and cats in Thailand. I have been given the task to manage its International School Program. Children and animals to me are the most pure creatures and my experience of working in the non-profit sector strengthened my beliefs in that.
I worked with students from many corners of the world (age ranging from 3 to 17 years old) and their parents. In the program, I also organised events for them and took part in their fundraising activities. This experience exposed me to different methods to approach the children, because due to backgrounds, some may be a little bit shy to open up.
As far as preferences are concerned, I am looking for a live-in arrangement with a host family, that would be happy to have me stay with and work for them for 3 - 6 months. I am confident that I can add value to your family life, and help manage your day to day activities.
It is a big plus for me if you have pets! I have experience with taking care of pets, and I would be happy to do this for you as I absolutely love them!
