Aupair from United Kingdom looking to work for a nice family. Can look after as many kids required and have 3 years experience under my belt. Looking to start next February.
My name is abigail (Abie) , I was born in Ireland and lived and grew up there until I was 18 years old. I am an only child , so I grew up with just my parents in the same house. My godmother looked after me whilst my parents were at work , she had seven sons so I treated them like my brothers. As I was growing up and at the age of about 11 I use to help my godmother look after the other children she use to babysit! When I was 15 years old my neighbors asked me to babysit their sons a couple of days during the week one 3 month old and one 2 year old, I gradually looked after them more and was looking after them 5 days a week in the summer. I loved looking after the boys and watching them grow up! It's amazing how close you can get to them, I still FaceTime them and send them presents! Duties looking after the boys included feeding them , changing them , making sure they got a nap and as they got older making sure I brought them out to play in the fresh air by going to the playground and going for walks , as we lived in the countryside! I completed many exams in secondary school including my junior certificate exams and leaving certificate exams. The results I received in my leaving cert enabled me to go to university. I left Ireland when I was 18 and went to the United Kingdom. I attended Christ Church University in Canterbury to study Adult nursing , I completed my first year of the course and then decided that it wasn't for me and that I would change my course. Although I left the course I learned many things that are transferable to childcare including first aid and various wound cares, information on children vaccines etc. I then decided I would study a degree in Early Childhood Studies , I started the course but then however I felt I needed to be exposed to looking after early years children before carrying on with my degree so I am currently taking some time out to do that and think that being an au pair would be a great opportunity for me.
