My name is Alice, I'm 18 years old Brit who would love to be a Nanny/au pair to a family, starting January 1st, 2019.
At the current age of 18, I have just finished my end-of-school exams and am apply to university for a September 2019 start. In the mean time, I am taking a gap year where I plan to work and travel.
I have, since the age of 14, had countless experience babysitting children for families, with an age range of two-years-old through to 16. In the last six months, however, I have had a different arrangement with one family. Twice a week I will visit their house: tutor their children (aged 14 and 16) who have recently sat important exams; cook tea for the children and parents (meals ranging from spaghetti bolognaise to fish stew) and then, when the children are in bed, do the washing and ironing. I have grown very close with this family and enjoy helping them in the best I can. For my future au pair family, I can do all of this as well as helping to tidy and clean around the house.
I have had eight month work experience working in a primary school working with children aged four to 11. This was an experience which I thoroughly loved and would happily do again. In my role as a teaching assistance, I enjoyed academically teaching the children along with the time I spent better getting to know them.
It is important to note, that in order for me to work in a school, I had to be Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certified. This means that I have been assessed by British government and deemed suitable to work with children and other vulnerable groups.
I am an avid reader and currently tend to spend my evenings curled up with a good book. My genre preference can be non-fictional enjoying learning about world history, British politics and the lives of inspirational role models such as Sophie Scholl or Martin Luther King Jr. Yet, I also love fictional reads, more specifically romantic novels and young-adult-themed books.
My mother always thought that having the ability to cook was important and so from the age of 13 I tended to cook tea three or four times a week. I enjoy being creative in the kitchen and so love to bake or cook new cuisine.
