Dear host family,

My name is Carol Andrea Espinosa, I am 22 years old and I live in Chia, Colombia, a small town near to Bogotá. I'm studying Mechanical Engineering. My mother's name is Carlota and she is housewife and works as craftswoman; My father's name is Hugo and he works with glass, he is a very dedicated man. I have two young siblings whose names are Sandra, 17 years old and Alejandro, 11 years old. Also, I live with my maternal grandfather, Marco, whom I love with all my soul, and every day my Aunt Rosario, my mother's only sister, comes to visit me; on the other hand, my dad has 7 siblings, 3 sisters and 4 brothers, I often visit four of them because they live in the same city as me, so I have many uncles, aunts and, of course, I have many big and little cousins. We are a very good and sociable family and we help each other. I love children and I am the oldest one so I have been always taking care of my sister when my parents were at work and also my little cousins in summer, preparing their food, helping them with summer homework, playing and doing crafts together or going to the pool. I have been always surrounded children.

I finished high school at 2012. Since 2013 I have been studying Mechanical Engineering in Bogotá, Colombia It is a very interesting career because it applies mathematics and physics. Thanks to engineering I learned a lot and when my colleagues had doubts, I tried to solve them, that's how I started to help more people and I started teaching mathematics to children and teenagers. I am very grateful for every child I have helped, because I have been taught that the learning skills of children are incredible. Also, they love me a lot because I teach them through games and with very funny examples. This teaching activity is one of my main activities in my free time because I earn some money and I have time to continue studying, I also enjoy doing exercise, dancing, hiking, camping, singing, going for a walk with my family and taking my dogs for a walk.

Just three years ago I started to become more independent thanks to the fact that my little students started to prefer my classes than their classes in the school because they learned a lot more with me and their parents trusted me a lot more in my care, we had a lot of fun and When the parents did not arrive to pick them up, we prepared delicious fruit salads and sandwiches to snack on while the parents arrived, sometimes a parent called to tell me that he could not arrive so I took the child home safe and very happy. Because of this experience I became very interested in becoming an Au pair, I can do what I enjoy the most: taking care of children, helping them, having fun together, encourage them curiosity about how the world works and learning together. On the other hand, it is an excellent opportunity to improve my English or German, get to know a completely different culture, integrate myself into a great family and share with them very happy moments. The aspect of improving my English or German is one of the most important for my future as a mechanical engineer because it is essential for the workplace. As an au pair I can give the best of me, I am a very responsible, creative, fun, loving and dedicated person, so the opportunity of taking care of children, sharing with them and doing everything I like while living an extraordinary experience fills me with energy positive, additionally the fact that I can do it abroad fills me more.
I have experience in caring for children from six months to fifteen years, girls and boys too. Since 2013 to 2017, I took care of Karen, who was 7, and Valentina, who was 11. The experience was great. I used to pick up them from the school, prepare their lunch, have lunch together, help them with their homework and play while their mothers arrived.
Afterwards, in 2015 I took care of Jeronimo, who was 6 months, I used to prepare his bottle, play with him, help him to develop the skills that a baby of his age begins to learn lull him, I had to be alert when he woke up and helping him to sleep.
my last experience was in 2017 taking care of Juan Felipe, I used to help him to do his homework, we played soccer when he finished, I prepared his lunch, I took and picked him up from school, I helped him get dressed after arriving from school, we prepared delicious Arepas, and chocolate to snack and I helped him to sleep when it was time to go to bed.

I am very excited for the opportunity to be able to know you better and be part of your family. I hope you have enjoyed reading my letter and knowing a little about me.
I look forward to meeting you soon!

Best wishes,

Andrea Espinosa
