Dear potential host family,
I would like to introduce myself in this letter and I hope that it will help you with your decision.
My name is Katerina and I´m a 22year-old girl from small city in Czech Republic called Prerov. It has always been a big dream for me to live or work abroad for a while.
First, I would like to tell you something about my family. I live together with my parents, grandmother and our dog. I´ve got older sister (28 y.o.) but she moved away two years ago. She is living with her boyfriend about five minutes from our house now. She is lawyer.
My parents are working in the same company near our city. My mother is international truck transport dispatcher and my dad is truck driver. I have with them really good relationship and we are close. Sometimes we quarrel but I feel this is normal and together we try to resolve our problems as fast as possible. Now I would like to introduce myself.
I was born in January 1995. My first language is Czech but I started learning English in primary school. I atented the Grammar school and my second language here was German. I can´t speak German fluently (only basics).
I will be certainly dedicated from February because I will have my final exam in college. My college is quite close to the city where I am staying. I am studying Environmental studies an sustainable development and I hope that I will have Bachelor´s degree in February.
Now I would like to tell you something about my hobbies. One of my hobbies is reading. I can say that I´m a real bookworm! My the most favorite author is Stephen King. Between my favorite sports belong skiing and swimming. Skiing is quite popular in the Czech Republic. I usually go skiing every winter with my friends or with my family. I really like spending time with my friends and family.
I have gained my experience with children mainly through babysitting and helping in our grammar school. I help our teacher in the grammar school after my classes. I took care for usually ten children. These children were younger than me and I usually played with them some board games or we went out (with our teacher) and play in the playground. I also have younger cousins so I took care for them before (when I was 14-19 and they were 2 and 6 years old). We spent each summer together. I also took care of our neighbour's two children (girl and boy). They were 4 and 7 years old. I have experience with younger children too. I helped in kindergarten for a while. At college, I was part of the course which made games for children. Our college is focused on protecting nature so we created day full of games focused at reducing waste in nature.
I have driving license since July 2017. I use the car several times a week. My parents say that I am really careful driver. I will be able to drive which I hope will be useful for your family. I know that health and safety of your children is important so in June and July I attended “first aid course” and got certificate.
I´m sure I could be a good au-pair for you because I'm an easy-going person who really likes children and their imaginative ideas. I am patient, creative, responsible, tolerant and kind. It is not always easy to take care of children but it is a great experience and I am looking forward to it.
I do not have problems to help in the household. I really love cooking. I cooked for my parents and my grandma lunch, sometimes dinner too. I'm used to helping in the home. I am tiding up my room, I'm cooking and washing dishes, sometimes ironing clothes.
