ABOUT MYSELF
I would describe myself as an open minded person, a music and art lover, good friend (at least that is what my friends think :P), patient person... I am very organised and I like to plan important things in advance and am thrilled if those of less importance surprise me. I am also very stubborn and I like to achieve goals that I have set for myself. I am interested in a lot different fields such as music, art, sports, languages, history, literature, psychology, literature...I am currently working on getting my driving licence.
I am a college student and I am currently switching between studies so I am taking a leap year to work and get some experience abroad. Until now I have been studying Law, did all my exams, but have come to the conclusion that I and study programe do not get along as well as I would like to, so I have decided to switch to studying translation in combination of 3 languages which are Slovene, English and French. In order to do that I have decided, that I would like to improve my English, especially my accent, and really get back into French, since I have studied it one before for 2 years. That is my plan for the course of this year. So I could say that being an Au pair would be the first step to my new future and I would very much like your family to be the part of that.
ABOUT MY FAMILY:
My family includes mom, dad, sister, grandmother, grandfather and myself. We live in a house in the subburbs which is surounded with fields, meadows and hills. We also have a dog and a cat living with us. We are a kind family and relatives and friends mean a lot to us, therefore we like to hang out with them as much as possible.
EXPERIENCE WITH CHILDREN:
I have mostly worked in these 3 situations
1. Picking up the children from kindergarden
My work includes picking the kids up from kindergarden, taking them home, cooking supper for them and the waiting for the parents to get home.
2. Babysitting at night
I come in the late afternoon to play with the children and then also bathe them, read them a bedtime story and put them to bed.
3. Looking after the children throughout the day
I come in the morning change the child from pijamas and then we eat breakfast. Afterwards we play, draw, go to the park,to the library, to the zoo ...Then I cook lunch, feed the child and put him/her down for a nap, or not, all the activities are age based to suit the child.. I then play with the child until the parents come home.
That is about everything when it comes to babysitting experience alone, but I have also worked with children in other situations. That includes working with children in play weeks at my church, helping younger children with school work at the local primary school and helping a disabled girl to get through the school day in the past school year because she way my collegemate.
I started babysitting for relatives when I was 14, that was when my youngest cousin was born. I started babysitting for other families when I was 17 and at the moment I am babysitting for 2 families, once or twice per week with each. I am taking care of 3,5 year old girl, and also for a boy who is 5 years old and his sister who is 1. I have been working with this 2 families for 3 years now.
The children I have worked with have been 0 to 19 years old (that includes the ones I have babysat). I have worked with 1 to 10 children at once.
EXPERIENCE ABROAD:
I was always interested in traveling as much as possible, and so far I have been to: Croatia,Bosnia,Greece,Czech Republic, Slovakia,Tunisia, Hungary,England, Austria,Germany,Italy, San Marino and Belgium.
I have traveled with my family, my friends, my schoolmates, my speedskating team and my choir.
I have also taken part in 2 student exchange programs while I was in primary school and in high-school. In primary school I participated in exchange with Czech Republic for 5 days and in 3rd year of highschool I was in Belgium for a week. My longest trip so far was around Sardinia in 2012, it lasted for 22 days.
HOBBIES:
My hobbies at the moment are singing in 2 choirs, swimming and hanging out with my friends, but the collection of my past hobbies is quite a bit longer than just these 3 things :)
So far I have tried (from primary school untill the present day) art club, photography club, ecological club, reading club, speed skating, handball, Europe club, all there is to know about travelling club, movie club,vocal group, music school, religian education, first aid club, French lessons...
I have enjoyed each and every of my hobbies but since I am a college student at the moment I have had to narrow my selection down to only few of those who I have been doing for the longest time and with most passion.
WHY I WOULD LIKE TO WORK AS AN AU PAIR
I would like to work as an Au pair because I like meeting new people, getting to know other cultures and working with children as well ofcourse. For me working with children is not just a job, I just enjoy it too much to look at it only as a job. I see working with children as something bigger like helping little human beings to grow emotionaly, helping them to learn, develope their talents and so on. I just love it.
I would like to be an au pair in the UK or France to get to learn English and French the best I can and to get to know the countries and their culture. Why au pair and not something else then you might ask?- Because I love being with children, it is a big stress reliever for me, and it has been for quite I while. Besides that I also really like to help people out, so I have been babysitting for almost 5 years now. As I have said before in it is just glorious shaping little human beings into the best version of themselves, so I see an au pair job as a huge life opportunity in broadening my mind and soul.
