We are a fun loving family who enjoy good music, nature, meeting people, reading and hiking, especially in the mountains. We are vegetarian so the food we prepare is not going to have meat in it. We love animals and have one very friendly labrador. I am a construction worker and Agnieszka teaches English in a secondary school in Oxford.
We live in a little cottage in a pretty village 35 minutes from Oxford. At the moment we are both working but in September we are expecting our second baby to be born so Agnieszka is going to go on a maternity leave. As she will be busy with the new born baby, we would like the au pair to look after our son Lenny.
Our village is a great place for walking with a baby and this is how we usually spend our time when we are not busy around the house or at work: we take the dog and go for a stroll. There is a cafe too which has a large playroom for children and when the weather is good we take Lenny to the outdoors playground.
Weekends vary as we like to go for a short trip to explore the countryside further afield or pretty Cotswold towns in the area; we also enjoy meeting our friends so often we visit them or they come over to see us.
We would like the au pair to help looking after our son Lenny who will be over a year old in August. He is a very cheerful and sociable boy and we don't want him to feel lonely or bored when Agnieszka is looking after the new-born baby.
We are not expecting the au pair to be doing a lot of housework; Lenny is the priority and we want you to have fun with him without worrying about house duties.
In our house we speak mainly English but as my wife is Polish, she uses Polish when talking to our son Lenny (we want him to be bilingual). For that reason we would consider knowledge of Polish an advantage.
We will always try to be flexible and supportive because it is important to us that you feel welcome and a part of our family. We also want to believe that at the end of your stay you will feel that you have benefited from the experience as I am sure we will all have learnt a lot from one another.
