Hi, I'm a single mother with a demanding job, looking for support with caring for my two children (age 6 & 7). I have a lovely, spacious home in a medium size town in County Durham - we live about 20 minutes drive from Durham city and about 50 minutes from Newcastle Upon Tyne (a major city). My family has hosted many European students on year long exchange programmes and I grew up living with 2 Swiss girls who have gone on to become like sisters to me. We are a very caring and welcoming family.

The Au pair's job

I would hope that an au pair with my family would be happy to look after the children Monday, Tuesday & Thursday evening every week plus 2 Friday & Saturday evenings per month. The au pair would have 2 full weekends per month off and all day 9am - 3pm free. In school holidays, this routine would change as the children would need care during the daytime. My mum is also involved in caring for the children, so the au pair would have her help some evenings. I would hope for some help with house work including some laundry, light cleaning such as vacuuming, tidying the children's rooms and dusting. It would be very helpful if the au pair could drive to take the children to and from school, but this is not essential.

Pocket money would be £70 per week, in line with UK Government recommendations. Happy to support you finding college courses and getting to and from school if you'd like to attend school. You will be welcome into social circles to make friends here as well :) I'd like the au pair to stay between 3 - 6 months.
