Dear Au Pair, We are a very hectic, busy family called ‘the Homes Summers family' We live in a village called Lower Kingswood in Surrey which is about an hour from central London an close to Gatwick. Our house is situated in a rural setting, so we need cars to get about we provide one for you. Our nearest towns are Reigate, Epsom and Banstead with all the local supermarkets, banks, shops and cinemas. We are equidistant between all three and it takes about 10/15 minutes to get to each by car. There are plenty of things to get involved in within the village and surrounding areas: if you like the outdoor life our location is perfect for you. I am Susie I a self-employed and run a property business, an entertainment agency and I also co-host a radio show on a community radio station. I work from home but I am out and about a lot of the time. My husband is a lawyer he works a great deal and is often out in the evenings. We have two sons: George who is 17 and Teddy who is 13. They are in different schools so there will be two school runs in the morning and afternoon although both are very short. George is at College and is learning to drive, so will be self sufficient soon. Teddy loves school and all things. Teddy is a strong drama and dance student and has an after school clubs on the weekends.. There is a lot of driving about to be done and a lot of organisational skills needed. Teddy is a vegetarian and has a pack lunch every day at school. George eats everything and has a hearty appetite - cooking skills are a plus!! We have three cats Fluffy and Jess and Tiggy but no other animals. The cats are very independent and don't need much looking after. We have a beautiful house set in three acres of land with an outdoor swimming pool. We have a ‘Seperate flat for the successful candidate: it is a self-contained separate building with its own bedroom, living room and shower room. You will have your own space and privacy. It has a fridge, microwave and tea and coffee making facilities in addition to being able to eat in the main house. I also have some gym equipment in the annex which we share. We are looking for … An easy going, fun person who is not afraid of early mornings school run starts at 07.00 and a busy schedule approx... 35/40 hours per week. We also need someone who will be available to help out during some of school holidays over and above their normal hours as we both work long hours. Someone that can cook simple meals for the boys and is happy doing housework and ironing. housework in the kitchen area, keeping the floor mopped every day, and the living space clean and tidy. We have a cleaner one day per week for other areas of the house. We would like you to put the supermarket shopping away once a week which is delivered. The recycling and rubbish bins need to be put out once a week also I mention this only because we have a long front garden pathway. so it is a specific task. The school run finishes at about 09:00 and then picks up again at about 17.30 until bed time at around 20:00 Monday - Friday. Once Teddy gets home from it is only his dinner and chasing him to get ready for bed. Although the rest of the day is your free time, we expect to be the focus of your work and so our position is incompatible with having a job elsewhere. The weekends are your own, subject to occasional babysitting arranged by agreement see below. We would expect you to be concerned with all things connected to the boys: clothes washing, ironing, tidying their rooms and their family bathroom feeding them. They need someone to keep them on schedule at home for bathing and getting ready for bed. You will have use of a car in your free time and we pay for its upkeep and the running costs. However, we would not expect you to take it on road trips up and down the country for which trains can be used and we expect you to pay for the petrol used during your own free time. Although we have a cleaner once a week, if you like cleaning there is an opportunity to earn extra cash for cleaning or extra babysitting duties over and above the routine two nights babysitting per week. Some weeks there is no babysitting but other weeks there might be three nights so we just keep an eye on things and work it out between us. We travel in the summer and Easter holidays so you have the opportunity to have free time where you will not be employed to do your own travelling or visit home. You are also free to travel home during Christmas holidays but if you stay more than one year with us we would take it in turns for New Year's Eve babysitting!! We pay two weeks holiday per year. Our 1st au pair stayed with us for for 5 years and our current aupair has been withus for 2 years. She is leaving becasue of a death in her family and she need to return to Hungary. they have both been Hungarian. Our cleaner is Hungarian. We are l oloking for someone who is prepared to stay a minimum of one year, more if that suits. I prefer continuity for the children and don't want to have to change au pairs every six months and have to go through the training into the routine so please be sure you want to stay in the UK or in our location for at least one year. we want someone to be intersted in our childeren and for me to know that they are safe when I am away from them. We are not looking for someone to just use our family as a means of getting to the UK.
