Au pair needed in New Zealand for a fun family who loves to laugh- 9 year old girl who is artistic, easy and fun!
We live on Waiheke Island, Auckland New Zealand in a house by the ocean, in a gorgeous, restful place. You would get a private secure room and own ensuite bathroom with shower, your own outside seated area as well. You'll have your own mini-kitchen and full use of our kitchen upstairs. We have one girl (9), who is very easy, intelligent and fun.
All weekends are off! We'd like you to have experience and references. Good understanding and speaking of English (I speak some French and Spanish so if you're not perfect at English, that's okay, we can help each other learn our languages)!
Driver's licence and experience driving you can use the car (to be negotiated)— a big part of this role is driving.
We are happy for you to have another job during the days as long as it doesn't conflict with schedule (cleaning can be changed/negotiated if you do this). You can spend your days exploring the beautiful waiheke island, Auckland city, and your weekends exploring New Zealand!
We'd need you to work around 30 hours a week: (Our daughter is very easy and sometimes since we work from home we wouldn't need you to do as much, and we are around so we need more help with housework and running the house than we do with her!) We'd expect you to keep a log of your hours so on the weeks you work a little more we can give you those hours back the week after ?? Basically our last au pair was very flexible and this worked for all of us well ?? There is occasional overnight babysitting needed and we'd do this by counting overnight hours as half-time and would give you the hours back.
In the July school holidays you will get a full week off, and all public holidays are off as well.
Duties:
* Preparing school lunches in the morning or at night -waking up child and getting her ready for school (5 hours).
* Picking up from school, preparing afternoon teas for her after school, preparing three meals a week (dinner), and spending time with her after school and occasionally putting her to bed (10-15 hours a week). Taking her to her afterschool activities etc.
* A big part of the job is driving and we will need to share the car so there is some picking up and dropping off of us to ferry.
* We also need someone who can do light cleaning of the house (laundry, bathroom, vacuuming, dishes, wash floor) (6-8 hours per week).
* Cooking 3 nights per week.
Other hours can be negotiated.
You get paid $150 a week. We will provide occasional dinners with the family, and all dinners you cook (usually 3 nights per week, sometimes more, or less) you're welcome to eat as well. You supply your own breakfasts and lunches and have your own kitchen or can use ours upstairs. The job also includes your own private room, own bathroom, utilities, WiFi, use of a home gym and negotiated use of car.
We'd like to find someone honest, respectful, fun, a very confident driver, good with kids, flexible and independent! A good sense of humour is a must as we are a family who loves to laugh! This is an awesome job in an awesome location. Our last au pair loved it here, and we hope our next one will too ??
