Loving and responsible au pair needed in Surrey, just outside London to care for two fantastic little girls, getting them to school, and looking after them until bed time. We're an experienced host family, working hard to give our au-pair's an awesome experience.
We're Julie and Rob ,from Surrey in the UK. We have two gorgeous, energetic little girls who are 5 and 7 years old who are looking forward to welcoming their new au pair. We're an experienced host family and about to say goodbye to our brilliant au-pair after two amazing years.
She has been an incredible part of our family! We have two little girls Bess - 7 and Sophia - 5, and my husband Rob and I are very busy professionals. I am a TV journalist and Rob is a lawyer so our au pair is the most important part of our family - without our au pair we'd be lost!!
Our au-pair generally works 35 hours a week plus two nights of babysitting (6.45am till 8.15 am and 3.30pm until 7.30pm each day). She is totally responsible for getting the girls up everyday and out of the house, organising and doing their washing, sorting their school bags and doing their homework each day. She also does some ironing and keeps the house generally clean and tidy (areas like the kitchen, the playroom and the girl's rooms). And of course she looks after the girls, playing with them, baking with them, taking them to activities and supervising their play dates with other kids.
We are looking for the following things in our au pair for the next year. Someone who is -
•Extremely organised and punctual.
•An early riser - our house wakes up between 6.30am and 7am during the week.
•Experienced at and LOVES looking after little kids and managing their activities
•Very patient
•Enjoys cooking and can make a healthy family meal each day for us all.
•A very safe and responsible driver
•Comfortable managing the kids and the house without too much input from us.
•Likes meeting new people and is self sufficient (happy spending time on their own too) - we are not often at home, and in the evenings as Rob and I see each other little, we tend to spend that time together just the two of us.
•Cheerful and fun loving and can think up fun stuff to do, even when it's pouring down with rain!
•Flexible - we need our au pair to be able to go with the flow as our working lives can go through periods of being a bit crazy. Other times we'll be around a lot more.
•Super Responsible - our au pair is the man adult in charge at home.
About our family -
•We are a super close family, with grandparents very involved with the kids.
•We are affectionate and very loving with our girls.
•We have very busy working lives, so the rest of the time we love hanging out with friends, taking trips, cooking and chilling in front of a movie. The girls are very active, they love to dance, swim, to bake and do crafts.
•We are an experienced host family, we are fair, fun and super friendly and we hope our au pairs treat their year/s with us as an adventure but also to treat it like a serious job. We have great relationships with our ex au pairs and they'd be happy to talk to any future au pair's about us.
•We love our kids to death but expect them to be well behaved, well mannered and to treat everyone, and their au-pair kindly - so our au pair must be able to be firm with them as well as loving.
•We're not a super tech-y family - the kids get limited amounts of TV and tablet time each day.
Where we Live -
•We live on the edge of a small town called Woking in Surrey, in a village called West Byfleet - it's 26 minutes on the train to London (the station is 5 mins drive away), 10 minutes in the car to Woking.
The Perks -
•Your own car to drive.
•A contribution towards a gym membership (the gym is 5 minutes drive away)
•A good pay packet of £170.00 a week and a network of other families who you can babysit for too.
•A lovely room and private bathroom in a loving, caring family, who treat their au-pair's with respect and a great deal of care and who will help you have an amazing time.
•A weekly schedule - I send out a weekly schedule with the details of the week ahead. We'll always try to plan ahead with our au-pair so that we don't interrupt her social life.
•Lots of holiday - the girls will be away for around 4 weeks each Summer - they spend two weeks somewhere with us, and two weeks with their grandparents.
•A holiday with us - if we haven't driven our au pair too mad - they are welcome to come away with us on one of our holidays.
If we sound like we might be the family for you, then by all means send me a reply letting us know what you are hoping for in your time abroad and if you'd like to know more.
