Energetic, warm, confident au pair needed by relaxed and friendly media family in London NW5.
If you are looking for an interesting, informal, sociable family in a central neighbourhood, you enjoy intelligent company and work best when free to follow your own initiative, this could be the job for you.
I am a widow, aged 45, and a senior journalist with the Guardian newspaper, which is based in Kings Cross. My sons are bright, energetic, friendly, confident boys who get along well with each other, adore school, enjoy reading and writing, love to dance and play football, and are obsessed with Lego. They are very chatty, noisy and active.
We live in an extremely comfortable house a five minute walk from Kentish Town tube station, on the Northern line, and two minutes from Kentish Town West overground station.
Under the usual au pair terms, the position offers accommodation and all meals, four weeks paid holidays per annum, and a monthly salary of between £110 and £135, depending upon previous childcare experience and references. I'm happy to consider any candidate of any nationality, age or background, but am looking for someone with the following qualities:
Excellent English, a good education, and ideally some childcare experience; enthusiasm, initiative, energy and resourcefulness; integrity, reliability, and a genuine interest in children. A driving licence would be helpful, but not essential. The right candidate will be organised, punctual, cheerful and self-motivated, and enjoy tidiness and order. If you are someone by nature more at home with mess, this probably isn't the job for you.
