Full time live-in nanny needed in rural France, near Geneva, to take care of our three kids and help with light housework, shopping, errands and pet care
We are an English-speaking family living in Collonges in the French countryside not far from Geneva, Switzerland. We urgently need a full-time live-in loving nanny/manny for our two high-energy boys aged 8 and 10 and our 3 year old daughter. Our current nanny who has been with us for three years (with a break in the middle) is moving back home.
Your role will be sole charge child care while we are at work. Childcare duties include picking the children up from school by car ( a 25 min drive from home), taking them to after-school activities, playing with them, supervising homework now and then, arranging fun outings for them, and preparing their meals.
Work is five days per week, weekends free, and extra payment for after-hours babysitting. Our daughter goes to school 3 mornings a week, the other 2 days she is in your full time care. On her school days she is picked up at 1pm. You will pick up the boys on Tuesdays at 5pm, at noon on Wednesday and at 3:30pm on Friday. All three children are in your care full-day when sick or during school holidays, when we are not away or they are not in camp. On the two days that our daughter is not in school, work starts at 7:30 am, on the 3 mornings our daughter goes to school, you will have to leave for school at either 11:15am (Wednesdays) or 12:15 (other days), although you may be needed earlier, to do the tasks described below. Work ends at 7pm.
A cleaner comes twice per week, but we need you to help with light housekeeping, namely tidying up after the kids (with their help when they are there), keeping the kitchen tidy (including unpacking the dishwasher), and doing the laundry, grocery shopping (once a week) and running errands (dry-cleaning, recycling, etc). We have a lovely little dog so need someone who likes dogs and is happy to take him for a walk now and then.
You need to be independent and organized, as you are in charge of the children and some aspects of the household alone during the day. Non-smoker, English speaking, with French a strong asset. YOU MUST BE A NATIONAL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, have a valid driver's license and contactable references. Having your own car is a definite bonus as we do at times need to take both our cars on weekends. When we don't you are free to use our car on evenings and weekends. We live in a small village, 30-40 minutes drive from Geneva, and 25 minutes from the children's school, so you need to be fond of driving and also happy with a quiet setting.
In turn we offer a good salary depending on experience and 4 weeks+ paid vacation (timing to be negotiated). The successful candidate will be provided with a self-contained furnished studio apartment in our house, with private bathroom with shower and semi-private kitchen (we need to pass through it from time to time to access our basement storage space. You will take care of your own grocery shopping and cooking (although eating with the kids is of course fine). We will respect your privacy and need for your own activities when you are off-duty, and overtime is always paid.
On extremely rare occasions both parents travel at the same time, in which case you will be need to provide 24 hour care (for which you will be paid extra).
