We are Dirk and Akemi, German and Canadian respectively and are looking for an au pair who would like to join our little happy, warm family for the year and to take care of our little sweet and lively one-year-old boy Liam when we can't be there. We are a bilingual family, speaking German and English, so you will have the opportunity to improve either language and experience two different cultures!
We live in a beautiful town called Oberursel, just 20 minutes outside of the exciting city of Frankfurt. We are both classical musicians, playing in the symphony orchestra here. We love what we do, but of course with concerts and sometimes rehearsals at different times, our schedule has to stay a little bit flexible and so we are looking for someone who is willing to help us out with that! The total weekly hours of babysitting will not be too much, but the hours will have to be a little bit flexible which we will always plan with you at least a week in advance so that you have the freedom to make your own plans too and meet with friends. Liam will be in daycare in the mornings which gives you time to take a german course, but we will need help some afternoons and about 2-3 evenings a week, sometimes on weekends (usually that means Saturday night, but Sunday free) while we have concerts. The advantage to having to work some weekends is that we often have whole weeks free, which means you will also have quite a few holidays to do some travelling if you would like or stay here and relax. The general things we would expect you to do are sometimes pick Liam up from daycare, feed him, change diapers, play with him and on evenings when we have concerts bring him to bed. We usually would get home from the concert at around 11pm. We would also ask of you some light household chores as a part of the family such as clearing up the dishes after a meal, or vacuuming.
We have recently moved to a newly-built row house where there is plenty of room for you, including your own bathroom upstairs. We have a great friendly neighborhood and the house is located near lots of beautiful green fields and pathways for nice walks, but only 5 minute walk away from lots of shops and restaurants in the centre of Oberursel or to public transportation if you feel like going to the bigger city of Frankfurt.
Nearby are some small mountains where we like to do little excursions on a free day.
