Please carefully read all the below to see if you think we would be a good fit before applying at random. Thanks a lot :-)
We are a nice family of 5, living in Versailles, very close to Paris. We are looking for a nice English NATIVE speaker girl or boy to help us with our 3 children, (two boys, 4 and 8, and a baby girl).
We are not offering an au-pair contract but a "logement contre service" contract. (accomodation in exchange of services" contract.)
We would accomodate you in an indenpendent flat, 16 square meters, fully renovated, with private garden, 2 minutes away from our own flat, in Versailles. The rent for such an accomodation is usually around €700 per month. You would not pay any rent but in exchange, we would ask you 15 hours of work per week. So you would have plenty of time on the other days to have another job and make pocket money or go and explore.
There are plenty of nannying/teaching job opportunities for English speakers.
In exchange for the free accommodation, we would ask you to help us :
-full Wednesday,
-plus twice a week, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 approx.
-plus ideally one full week something like 3 times a year, to go on holiday with the children, to the countryside, either in Burgundy or in Vendée, where the children's grand parents have lovely houses.
Just to be clear: some au pairs think they are here just to find a boyfriend/go on a complimentary holiday/improve their French, but that's all,. and looking after the children is just a tiny little troublesome detail. But if that's what you think, your au-pairing year is not going to work out with anyone, least of all with us :-)
Somehow you will have to achieve a balance.
We are looking for someone who love children, who is pro-active, and doesn't wait to be told what's to be done but understanding what's needed and doing it. We are looking for someone open, trustworthy, not too shy, at ease with us. Someone who has it in her to find ideas to keep the children entertained, not someone spending her time stuck on her I-phone while supposedly looking after the children. Someone who would be fully available when spending time with the children. Do you think you can be that reliable and energetic person?
In exchange, we are really looking forward to helping you settle in and discover France, our culture, and what's best in France. We are fond of British culture, we love learning and exchanging tips, advice and recipes.

Charles, my husband, runs his own jewellery business in Paris, close to St Roch. We are both 35.
