Introduction of the family offering the au pair / nanny job:

SAFETY WARNING: if you see any contact details below, DO NOT CONTACT THIS FAMILY but report it to us! It might be a scammer who will ask you for money.

We are an easy-going, friendly, kind and responsible family of two mature British adults (one retired, the other semi-retired) and one adorable, well-behaved dog (Dalmatian/terrier cross). We are currently living in North Wales in the UK but we are planning to move to a larger house in Cheshire in northwest England in 2015, when we would like an au pair to join us.

We are NOT looking for a child nanny because there are no children in our family, so you will not have to take care of crying babies or noisy/screaming/irritating/messy/badly-behaved kids throwing tantrums and driving you and their parents crazy!

We are looking for a sincere, kind, responsible female au pair who would be willing to help assist, supervise and be a part-time companion for my 90-year old mother who will move to northwest England with me (her son) and our adorable dog in 2015 (probably summer but could be earlier).

We plan to move to the English county of Cheshire in 2015. The famous Roman town of Chester is in Cheshire, with many nice shops, wine bars and pretty historic buildings, and the major cities of Manchester and Liverpool are nearby. London is just over 2 hours by train so London could be an ideal weekend break for you. Cheshire is also famous for the "Millionaires Row" area of Wilmslow, Prestbury and Alderley Edge where many wealthy English Premier League footballers live. If you are new to the United Kingdom we will try to immerse you in the local culture as much as possible. When we go out in the car or out for dinner we will invite you, but when you want time to yourself we will respect that. We will try to move near to public transport links for our au pair's convenience.

Any eligible nationality (see below) will be considered but you MUST speak English well, be a keen/good cook and be willing to cook meals 4-5 days a week because I'm not good at cooking and my mom is now too old to do that.

** UK VISA ELIGIBILITY:

There is NO au pair visa for the United Kingdom and citizens of countries such as the Philippines, African countries etc will NOT be able to work legally in the UK as an au pair. To be eligible you MUST be a citizen of the EU/European Union or Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, Korea and Taiwan. If you are a non-EU citizen you may be able to work as an au pair in the UK if you apply for a student visa and study at a local language school for not less than 10 hours per week. See:

https://www.aupair-world.net/au_pair_program/uk/family/regulations.

Americans who are interested to stay with us please add us to your favorites and I'll reply with more details.

My mother is in good physical health for her age and she can walk slowly with a walking stick but she has age-related dementia which means she forgets things, sometimes gets confused and has difficulty expressing herself (but she understands simple conversation). However she does NOT need nursing care or help with dressing, getting in/out of bed or going to the toilet which she can do by herself, and you will NOT have to help her with bathing/washing as she has an assisted bath at a nearby care home.

She's an independent, undemanding, friendly, easy-going lady who loves companionship, going out (and eating!) but she is now elderly so I need an au pair to help with cooking, light house cleaning, food shopping, dog walking etc as all of this is too much for one person and it leaves me with little free time - also to keep an eye on her when I have to go out.

I am 60 years old but well traveled (80 countries), healthy, fit, active and with a sense of humor. Although I no longer work full-time due to my mother's age (I have no brothers/sisters to help me) I need more time for myself to start and operate a small part-time hobby/retirement business dealing in premium cars (e.g. Porsche, Audi, BMW, Alfa Romeo etc) in 2015.

We do NOT expect our au pair to do everything for us. "Assist" is the key word. We're looking for about 25 hours help per week but we're flexible about this and days/times. Compared to looking after children I think this is a MUCH easier job!

In exchange we can offer you comfortable accommodation (you will have your own room, TV and Internet access), meals, salary, time off, and English tuition/practice if you wish (I was an English teacher in Japan for several years so I know how to teach English). You can be part time or full time, and live in or live out. Salary negotiable with hours (flexible). Trial period of 1-4 weeks to make sure we're all compatible. For your security we can provide references. Because living with an elderly person can sometimes be challenging (if you're a caring, patient person you won't have a problem) I would suggest our au pair aim for an initial stay of 1-3 months with us. However if you are comfortable/happy with us and we are happy with you, and you want to stay longer with us you will be welcome.

If you are trustworthy and reliable we will treat you very well and you will be part of our family, NOT just an employee or a lodger. We will LOVE you if you are also a good/excellent cook (we like healthy food and a variety of cuisines) and love dogs. Some daily light cleaning duties are also required. Again, it's not a hard job but we need someone who is caring, reliable, patient and trustworthy and who doesn't mind helping to assist an elderly but independent lady and be a part-time companion for her. She never had a daughter/grand-daughter and spends much of her time watching TV (which she isn't really interested in and can't understand everything) or staring out the window (because I have too much to do), which is sad. She would LOVE to have a friendly young lady in the house for additional companionship and to take her out for short walks, a coffee etc. Apart from a few hours a day the rest of the time including weekends and most evenings is yours.

Finally, if you are looking for an exciting, action-packed time OR you prefer the company of children to mature adults and you really want to take care of kids then we are not right for you! However, if you don't mind temporarily living with mature adults (who can still be fun/funny but in a different way to people of your age), don't mind a quiet time and you might be interested
