Au Pair Plus needed for a shared role between two families.
Family 1 (Host family - you will live with us) have two dogs and two cats. We need dog-walking/animal care and housework. We live in a leafy suburb of Brighton.
Family 2 (Travel time and bus pass included) have 1 daughter of 7. You will pick her up 3 afternoons per week and look after her/make tea etc.

We are Family 1
We are a professional couple living in Brighton (BN1) who require au pair help with our busy lives. We have two au pair roles so one au pair is always on duty in the daytime. We both commute (I work in Surrey and my partner works in London) and we have early starts which means it is a quiet household and would suit an independent au pair who enjoys their own company whilst working/is mature, and is capable of taking over responsibility for the household chores, pet care, holiday cover and occasional cooking. Driving might also be a possible task too, dependent on abilities.
We are childless but have two nervous rescue cats and two bouncy rescue dogs. We need help with animal care (there will be lots of daily dog-walking, in ALL weathers, so you must be an outdoors, active sort of person) and general help: house cleaning, some ironing and watering the garden on hot days etc. Both dogs require careful supervision whilst out and follow a behaviour training programme so I require someone interested in animal psychology and capable of being firm/following the procedures in place. All animals will also require lots of play and interaction – all of which care you would help us provide.
Most weeks of work will be four or five days (or part days) to co-ordinate with the days needed by Family 2, with alternate weekends on/off duty and with one long weekend off per calendar month . You would work according to a schedule so that you are on duty on days when the other au pair is off and vice versa. Occasionally, we will need to change this (to cover for our other au pair's holiday etc - as they would do for you ) so would need you to be flexible.
The “baby or pet” sitting element (childcare/cat care/eve dog-walking etc) is often midweek, if we have evening work events, with occasional weekend evening sitting duties and pre-confirmed holiday cover – we will protect your weekends off; and most pet-sitting dates will be arranged in advance and would be varied which allows our au pairs to have a fun social life in Brighton. Extra hours (such as extra holiday cover) would be compensated as time off in lieu to allow for our au pairs to take day trips out and organise weekends away etc, or paid over-time.
We are vegetarian (we do eat fish) and are a meat-free house. We would want someone who can occasionally prepare a tasty, balanced meal for us should there be need. You would get input into choosing your meals (vegetarian, fish or vegan) and we would co-ordinate the cooking of these between our two au pairs(with some preparation of bulk meals in advance) to maximise your free time.
You would get a (shared/twin) furnished bedroom with desk and smart tv, and private ensuite (also shared with our other au pair), in a modern and clean house (with wi-fi) in a quiet and smart residential area that is on a very good bus route into central Brighton, is close to many popular parks and has easy access to both a mainline train station and the A23. Your bus pass for travel to Family 2 (and your own personal, leisure us) will also be provided.

We are a friendly professional couple with one child (aged 7 years). We live a one hour (one bus) journey from your Host Family, with the getting on and off bus stops close to both our houses.
Our daughter ...
…..Is 7 yrs old and loves being outside and cycling, scooting and acrobatics……Inside, she loves crafts and art, and making things, writing and workbooks…..She is an excellent swimmer and ballet dancer too……She really enjoys interaction with young people and communicates really well on an intellectual level.

We would like you to carry out the following help around the house:
• childcare – play and homework supervision
• meal preparation (we eat vegetables, meat and fish and cook from scratch most days)
• dishwasher (loading and unloading)
Most weeks of work will be three part days of an afternoon school pick up and after-school care, to co-ordinate with the days needed by Family 1. You would collect our daughter from school and play with her/look after her until we arrive home from work. During that time you would prepare the food for an evening meal and undertake the clearing away, then eating with my daughter/or us as a whole family. Babysitting evenings would also require supervision of our daughter's bath and bed-time routines/reading a story and being on duty whilst our daughter sleeps until we return home. During holidays this weekly four hour slot might be used in the daytime as extra childcare cover. Extra hours on top of this (such as more school holiday cover) would be compensated as time off in lieu to allow for our au pair to take day trips out and organise weekends away etc, or be paid over-time.

We care about the environment and recycle/use energy resources carefully, and are very particular about very high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
We would expect a mature, reliable, honest, hardworking, easy-going and child/animal-loving(!) person who can fit into our routines and provide the commitment we need. We need someone who is very flexible, around our and our family needs. We also need you to have a happy, stable and positive attitude.
