Au pair/nanny needed by family of five living in Kent, UK - less than one hour from London by train. Mum and dad both work. We live in a beautiful village in Kent surrounded by countryside and we have lots of outdoor space.
We are looking for a self-starter who can look after a one-year old boy during the day. Dad works from home so he will often be around to help if needed. Our au pair must be able to drive and have experience with children - and babies - in particular.
Working hours will be 09:00-16:00 Mon-Thursday and these days will be spent solely looking after our baby son Alexander. On these days there will be no housework apart from keeping the lounge/kitchen area and Alexander's bedroom clean and tidy during the day, ensuring everything is tidy at the end of your shift.
On Fridays, your duties will be to clean two bathrooms, vacuum the house, wash floors, clean surfaces downstairs and do some ironing. You should be able to get this done in 4 hours so you'll have a short day on Fridays working from 09:00-13:00.
Our au pair must be flexible and a positive can-do attitude. Dad sometimes travels and on those days, our au pair will be expected to also pick up our two other children from school, make them dinner etc until Mum gets home. You will work roughly the same hours on average so for example if you have worked long hours one week because Dad has been away then you will get those hours deducted when he's back or Friday off perhaps. Occasional babysitting sitting duties are requested at the weekends. Also, during school holidays you may have three children to look after for some days but Dad will be there to help.
We need someone with eyes in the back of their head, who loves babies and children; who is confident enough to discipline the children; and who is happy to take charge when required. A one-year old is all over the place and need constant supervision. We'd love a happy, outgoing person who is equally at ease at home reading to and playing with Alexander as well as going to playgroups and for walks with him. We are nice - promise!
