Helping 2 separated parents (still friends) with two beautiful / gentle kids. Our daughter has high-functioning Autism, she is verbal, friendly and gentle. Our son is very chatty, friendly and fun. You would have access to a free bike. Public transport is very close, only approx 1.5km between the two houses. Houses approx 13km to CBD. Safe local area. Own room and free internet available within family download limits. Assisting with breakfast, school lunches, walk 1km to school for son in morning / afternoon. Weekends off. Support hours with kids 7-9am & 3-6pm (Mon-Wed), 7-9am & 3-9pm (Thurs), 7-9am & 3-6pm (Friday). No mobile phone, internet or TV use during morning or afternoon support, we would appreciate active engagement with the kids and us as part of our homes at those times. Negotiable weekend hrs. Extra money can be earned, babysitting or assisting my parents (living next door) with some housework if desired.
- Father is a Social Worker involved in a caring profession for over 10 years.
- Mother is in Learning and Development (Training) at a Law firm in the CBD.
- While we are not together, we commit to being the best parents we can be to our beautiful children and collaborate well around this.
- You would have your own private room and free internet access.
- We would appreciate someone who is fun, gentle and patient with our children.
- Our son is typically developing and energetic, but is also polite, caring and chatty.
- He plays basketball, is a probationary blackbelt in Taekwondo, and would go running with you for Cross Countrty practice if you would enjoy that.
- Our daughter needs encouragement at times to respond verbally, but has excellent receptive language, understands everything she is told and is well behaved.
- She loves bike rides, swimming, sensory play, climbing / playing outdoors, playdoh, cutting and pasting etc. and we are working on her reading.
-She attends Equine (Horse) Therapy, which you could optionally attend.
Weekend Time off: Friday from 6pm / weekend off
Mid week time off, Mon-Thurs - from 9:00am-3:00pm:
Great access via transport or bike paths to great recreation opportunities (35-40 mins to CBD by transport)
Mon-Wed from 6pm (Daylight until 9pm during summer): Your own time, great access via transport or bike paths to great recreation opportunities & CBD
Ad Hoc / Optional items
Attending family weekends away (e.g. Phillip Island, Great Ocean Road, Ballarat etc.)
Weekend babysitting for evening (as agreed / negotiated at $30 per evening)
Support Hours - Mornings
7:00-9:00am (Mon Tue Wed Thurs Fri)
Range of tasks may include:
• Support father to prepare breakfast, and /or dinner.
• Make school lunches, assist getting kids into school uniforms
• Wipe kitchen benches and sweep eating area after breakfast.
8:15am - Walk Son to school. Pushing daughter on bike for her exercise and returning to the house.
8:30am – Son dropped at school.
8:45am – Daughter returned to house (father drives her to second school)
Before 9:00am – Load and set off the dishwasher.
Afternoon support:
3-9pm Support (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thurs) & Thurs from 6-9pm at mothers house.
Typical Afternoons - 3:00-6:00pm
3:00-3:15pm: Unload dishwasher & put away dishes.
3:15-4:00pm: Walk to sons school for pick up (3:30pm). Walk back with son. Prepare after school snack.
4:00-5:00pm – Provide after school snack, continue any dinner preparation or serve dinner to daughter. Play with Daughter: i.e walk / push to park (or in-house activities). While father completes homework with son. Supervise daughters shower.
5:00-6:00pm: Engage my son in teaching or sharing some basics of your own language, or some sort of quiet activity (not TV watching).
Weekly Activity evenings
Tuesday: 5-6pm Sons basketball training.
Daughter - Optional 1hr playing at local primary school playground during training.
Wednesday: Daughter (some weeks) – Equine / Horse Therapy 3:30pm
Son Taekwondo (every week) 5:45-7:00pm Thursday
School holidays: Support hours to be discussed and agreed at time. Similar amount of support hours for the week likely, but negotiable in line with both family needs and your interests at the time.
