Au pair required for lovely family with 4 beautiful children in the cathedral city of Winchester. We also have pets.
ung busy family living in the beautiful cathedral city of Winchester in Hampshire. Winchester is really a large town rather than big city, and there are lovely views of the countryside from our house (just a 5 minute walk away). We are only 10 miles from the much larger city of Southampton and a 1 hour train journey from London.
We love being outdoors, walking in the New Forest with the wild ponies, sailing, playing at the beach, eating out and travelling. We have a large garden, chickens, hamsters, a cat called Purcy and a dog called Clodagh, so its important that you like animals too.
We are looking for someone with a passion for life, who loves children, and is mature and responsible. You will be welcomed as a member of our family. On your days off, you will always be welcome to join in with our activities if you want to, or spend time exploring on your own.
Our current au pair will leave in August having been with us for 18 months. Our previous au pair was with us for 2 years. Both have become family friends for life. You are welcome to speak to them about life with our family.

About us
Patrick is 6, Lucy is 4 and Emily and Benjamin (the twins) are 2 1/2.
From September, Patrick and Lucy will be at school all day (8:45-3:30). The twins will be at pre-school every morning until 11.45. They all go to the same school which is just a 2 minute walk from our house. After school care is shared with Grandma who lives just down the road (five minutes walk away). Mummy works three days per week and Daddy works five days but works from home two days each week.
The children enjoy lots of fun activities with our au pairs, for instance, trips to the park or to the Cathedral for a picnic. You can walk into town or the countryside from our house. You can also walk to Winchester language school easily.
You will have your own room in a separate part of the house where you are not disturbed by the children. You also have a comfortable sofa and TV in your room if you want some quiet time. If you like to cook, we'd love to taste your favourite dishes, and if not, you don't need to because we love cooking and eating foods from around the world. We do a lot of home cooking.

Expectations
We are looking for someone who will get up with the children each morning, prepare their breakfast, help the youngest ones get dressed and take them to school. Some days, you will need to collect them from school/preschool and prepare their dinner. Some of the time you will be looking after all four children on your own, but on other days you will be working alongside Mummy, Daddy or Grandma, or just looking after one or two children on your own.
Sundays are your own time, and during the week, you will have at least two half-days entirely to yourself. As always, if we are doing something interesting (like going sailing or to the beach), you are welcome to join us, but you don't have to if you don't want to.
We will also appreciate your help with keeping the house tidy and making sure that the laundry gets done. We're all in the same team, and all get involved in making sure that the house runs smoothly.
You would travel on family holidays several times each year. Our next holiday will be two weeks away (location to be confirmed) during August.
In summary, you will be a big sister to our children and valued as a part of our family whilst having the freedom to do your own activities when you want.
