Introduction of the family offering the au pair / nanny job:
SAFETY WARNING: if you see any contact details below, DO NOT CONTACT THIS FAMILY but report it to us! It might be a scammer who will ask you for money.
Au pair required to help look after one child, 9 years, and make sure the two teenagers are awake on time! We have 2
Little dogs, love music, live a 5 minute walk from the beach and need help! ;-) no weekends required so loads of free time to explore.
We currently have an au pair whose assignment finishes at the end of July/beginning of August. We, ideally would love someone to be with us at the end of August, ready for the new school term in September.
From a child care perspective, we need someone to take care of Alfie who will be 9 X years old in July. He goes to school from 8.30 until 15.30 so the main activity is making sure he gets to school on time, with lunch box, bag etc and make sure he's picked up and homework is done. He is dyslexic so needs to read daily -
He is now beginning to enjoy this!! Big steps!! ;-)
My two other kids, Harrison and Phoebe will be 14 and 13 so they are really independent! ;-) they get themselves ready for school etc.
Regarding the job - we need someone to wake up when Alfie gets up, and make the lunch boxes for school X 3. Then tidy up the bedrooms (all the kids do it already - but it's just to make sure they are clean and tidy). Clear up after breakfast etc (we have a dishwasher). Again, the kids will help and should be encouraged to! ;-)
Either before Alfie goes to school or after, it would be great to run the Hoover around and dust a bit sometimes in the kitchen/hall/stairs etc and the cleaning bit is really your own room and bathroom as well as the kitchen. We are tidy and clean people so it's just to maintain that.
Alfie finishes school at 3.30 so then needs entertaining until 6.30 when I get home. Dinner needs to be made for yourself and the kids before then. I cook for myself and richard when I get home.
Twice a week there will be some ironing but this could also be done before school time which means by the time you get back from dropping Alfie at school the day is yours for studying, socialising etc. It's definitely not an all day job. Our current au pair goes to the gym, meets friends etc during the day and evenings. That's why we ask for help with the housework and ironing.
Our current au pair has never been asked to work a weekend or babysit ;-). So although we would love to go out we never seem to get the chance!! ;-). Maybe once a month for babysitting if we make it a rule ;-)
Richard my partner (we are getting married in July) works in London for the Fire Service, sometimes he's away for 48 hours at a time. I am a director of quite a large company so leave the house early and come back by 7pm latest - usually 6.30pm because I want to see the kids! ;-)
We live near Hastings which is on the South Coast of the U.K. We are a 5 minute walk from the beach. 3 minute walk from the railway station which goes straight to London, so loads to do on your weekends if you want to explore.
Hastings has everything -
Shops, cinema, restaurants etc. It's a nice enough place and its becoming more trendy recently as more investments have been made. We have a new pier ;-)
Our house is spacious, has 5 bedrooms etc. You would have your own room next to a large bathroom that is shared by the kids. There is also a separate room downstairs for your use in the evenings which has tv, Xbox, music etc.
Weekends are by default your days off unless we have something on and need your help - but we will arrange this or any babysitting way in advance and like I said, it hasn't happened this year!! ;-). (We need to get a life clearly!!) ;-)
Please come back with any questions you might have.
