Please permit us to introduce ourselves as an academic family who lives in central Oxford (in England, UK). Allow us to tell you a little more about our family. The eldest daughter is 4 years old and will start going to school in September 2016. She spends most of her day playing outside and also doing activities like dancing, karate, ice skating, gymnastics and swimming. The youngest daughter is 4 months old and spends most of her day eating, sleeping, and laughing! The mother is a linguist who is currently on maternity leave. The mother spends her day looking after the baby and helping to get the older daughter to her various activities. The father is a biologist who works Monday – Friday.
If you were to join our family, you'd be a much-loved full member whose primary role is to be a loving and fun big sister to the 4 year old. She has had Chinese/Taiwanese nannies since she was 18 months old and, because of this, Mandarin is a native language for her (along with English). As she has just one year before her formal schooling commences, we'd like to find someone who can naturally encourage her to speak lots more Mandarin by playing games and having lots of fun. (You'd speak exclusively in Mandarin to the 4 year old.) As a family, we love China and both Mother and Father's best friends are from China. The daughter would always be the priority and any contribution to housework would only be very light.
You might also be interested to hear about the location of our home in the lovely university city of Oxford: it's very central and our house overlooks the grounds of several University Colleges and the river. It takes less than 10 minutes to walk into the geographic city centre/shopping area and there is a busy local bus stop right across the road. The coach service to central London (which has a travel time of around an hour) leaves from a bus stop which, again, is less than 10 minutes away on foot. The train station is around 15 minutes on foot from our house. (Fast trains to London run every 30 minutes.) Oxford is in central England so is very conveniently located to travel to the rest of the UK! (Your weekends would be entirely free for you to spend as you please!) In our house, you would have your own personal double bedroom with attached private en suite bathroom. You would have no living costs: as we said, we'd embrace you as a full family member. (Of course, we'd provide you with a monthly stipend that you could use as you please!)
