Energetic, dependable, trustworthy Au Pair needed for young fun family with a 6 year old fun filled boy, a cheeky, smiley happy 4 year old girl and a lovely dog for 5 days a week in Rathfarnham. Dublin 14
Dear Au Pair
We are a lovely, fun filled family living in the suburbs of Dublin looking for someone to be part of our family and look after our 2 beautiful children and our very furry dog! Our current aupair has been with us over a year and is leaving us in Nov. We are a very relaxed family living in the suburbs of Dublin with frequent transport routes into the city.
We have 2 children, Scott who is 6 years old and our beautiful 4 year old girl Amy. We both work full time, so we need someone who will love and care for our lovely kids while we're in work. We also have a beautiful and very well trained dog, an alaskan malamute, Keesha, who is part of our family, and it would be great if you could bring her for a walk during the day if the weather is not too bad. Our son is a very happy little man who is full of fun! He is into everything and is mad about lego, cars, colouring and painting, and will play for hours with his lego. You will have a lot of fun with him!! He has school 5 mornings a week until 1.30 during the school term. Amy is in preschool until 12, 5 days a week too. You'll be getting their breakfast, getting them dressed then walking them to school (about 10 minutes walk away). You will also help with homework. Amy is a funny, happy little girl who will make you laugh. She sings and dances and keeps you entertained She loves to paint and colour, do makeovers, and dressup! She is a little chatter box, and loves imaginative play. She'll be making you pretend cups of tea with her little tea set in no time! They love to play, so we need someone who will get down on the floor and play with them, go to the park, play football, lego, painting and all the fun stuff!! They have a lot of little friends in the area so there will be playdates and picnics in the park. There are lots of au pairs in the area and our current Au Pair will introduce you to everyone. You can also talk to our previous au pairs who have all been so happy here
Good level of English needed! You will need to bring the kids to and from school and their activities. Everything is close by so you don't need to drive. As we both work in IT and love movies, you can expect fast internet, with access to our vast movie and TV shows collection, Netflicks and your own bathroom. We need someone who can cook healthy meals, as you will be in charge of the childrens meals so you need to be able to follow a kids cook book. Your free time will be entirely your own, but I would prefer if you head out during the week, that you're not too hungover the following day as hangovers and little kids don't mix well!! We'd prefer for you not to have people in our home, but of course if friends are picking you up etc then they will be welcome, and if your family come over to visit we'd be happy to meet them and show them where you spend your time :-). Some of our au pairs friends and/or family have come to stay with us for a few days and I'm happy to skype with your family if they are worried about you meeting people on the internet and going to live with them lol. I can also put you in touch with our previous au pairs so you can be reassured that we really are a nice, normal family!! We treat our au pair as part of our family and want you to feel like this is your home while you are with us.
We pay EUR120 a week. You'd be expected to work from 7.45am to around 6pm Monday to Friday, with weekends off, and some Fridays you will finish early as we sometimes get out of work early on Fridays. You would also have most Tuesdays to yourself, as the kids Nana likes to mind them on Tuesdays, but this is not every week, so we pay you for Tuesdays in case you have to work and if your not working, then you'll need to do a few hours cleaning around the house. Although this might change depending on our jobs, but this would be the normal hours. We would also need 1 evening and one weekend morning of babysitting a month. Most families look for 1 or 2 nights babysitting a week, but we'd rather have one night a month and the following morning instead. This is so mammy and daddy can get out for a few drinks too lol!! We don't pay for days off (holidays, public holidays etc) or for your flights. Occasionally we have to travel for work, so if I'm away, you might need to get the kids to beds and stuff, but we try to avoid this as much as we can! We will need you to be a little bit flexible if we have to work late but to be honest, I am generally running out the door at 5 so I can get home and spend some time with the kids before they go to bed! Mainly we are looking for someone with a positive, happy attitude, who does lots of creative play with our children. As the kids are in school, we expect you to do some house cleaning. Daily chores are to hoover downstairs and wash the floors twice a week, to keep on top of the dog fur!! lol. Because the children spend so much time on the floor you'll need to keep them clean and once a week clean/hoover the rest of the house. Other than that we just expect for you to keep the place fairly tidy, general hoovering, washing floors (again the dog) and to clean up as you go and to look after the childrens food while I'm in work. You will also look after the ironing. The main priority is the kids! Some days can be busier than others so you might have to spend more one on one time with them, so if I come home from work, and the house is up side down thats ok from time to time. Also accepted is couch forts, blanket tents and pretend trains using the dining room chairs lol :-D. Dry days in Ireland are the exception, so if its not raining, try to spend as much time outside in the garden or park as possible. It is completely acceptable on a nice sunny day to have dragged half the sitting room outside into the garden hahaha! And on rainy days, painting, baking, colouring, or sticking on the rain gear and finding some puddles to jump in are all good!! The kids have some friends close by so you can arrange play dates and picnics together. Mainly we are just looking for someone who will love and laugh with our kids. A good level of english is essential
