Angelica Monsalve
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Hello dear future host family,
My name is Angelica Monsalve, and I am 23 years old. I am from Venezuela but have been living in Buenos Aires, Argentina for about 4 years now. I understand that it might be challenging to truly know someone through a letter, but I'll try my best to be as transparent and detailed as possible. Throughout my life, I have been surrounded by children. I grew up in a very large family where I was the youngest sibling, but I also had to take on the role of an older sister. That's why I've had the opportunity to experience both roles. To whoever receives this letter, please know that I will treat my host siblings as my own family with respect and dedication. I hope we can get to know each other better to create the best possible coexistence because one year is both a significant and short time considering how quickly children grow.
Since I was young, I have had an affinity for children, and it has always been easy for me to understand them and get along well with them. I am a patient and attentive person who has prior experience working, teaching, and caring for children from cultures different from my own. I believe that respect and communication are key to any type of coexistence or relationship, and this situation is no exception. I have been an older sister before, and my siblings always hold a special place in my heart. I follow the parents instructions regarding their children's upbringing and the routines they consider appropriate. An important aspect about me is that I consider routines indispensable to maintain balance in situations. I feel that routines provide us with clarity and organization. Upon arriving in Buenos Aires, my job for 2 years was to be a nanny and an English teacher for children. I understood the needs of parents seeking help while they are working or unable to care for their children for a certain period.
I've known about this program since 2020, but now I feel fully capable of fulfilling this role. Over time, I have improved my English, and I can now communicate efficiently and understand the language quite well. I want to live this experience because I would love to be part of a family with a different culture from mine, as it would help and provide me with new tools in my life. Just as I can offer and share my culture with you, I would also like to live in an English-speaking country because it would help me perfect my English since I want to finish my studies at the Universidad Autónoma de Buenos Aires as a language interpreter.
If I have to talk about my hobbies, they can change depending on the seasons or the moment I am going through in my life. For example, in summer, I really enjoy going out for a swim, spending a day in the park, maybe painting, or having a picnic. But in winter, I prefer to stay home, watch a good movie, and cook something really sweet. Speaking of talents, I consider myself a creative person who finds it easy and enjoyable to do handcrafted things and paint. I like everything that involves decorating, organizing, or beautifying projects. I also pride myself on being adaptable, which gives me the opportunity to bring out my best in any given moment or circumstance.
I´d love to become a part of your family.
All of the best, Angelica Monsalve.
