Hi! I'm a caring, responsible, and trustworthy Filipina looking for a hospitable host family I can serve for a year. :) I enjoy taking care of 1-2 children and doing household chores. I also know how to perform basic first aid.

Dear host family,

Hello!

My name is Rebecca, but I am fondly called Beck by friends and family. I am a 25-year old medical student from Metro Manila, Philippines, who is currently taking an indefinite break. I have worked as a licensed laboratory technologist in a tertiary hospital for more than two years prior to pursuing my medical degree.

I lived by myself in my first year as a medical student, and was summoned by my family back home when the travel ban was lifted. I am sandwiched between two sisters. One is a 27-year old middle school teacher, and the other one is a 16-year old student. We grew up with a complete set of parents and are all currently living happily under one roof. Both of our parents are in good health and are still working. Our late paternal grandmother lived with us for 14 years, and I served as her personal nurse from the time I started my undergraduate degree until her last days.

My experience with children can be summarized by joining yearly summer trips to a local orphanage as a volunteer worker all throughout my high school years, teaching indigent children how to read for a few months, babysitting friends' kids, and taking care of my younger sister and cousin when they were infants. I know that these might not seem enough, but I do have a genuine love for children, most especially newborns. I like taking care of them and I have no qualms about changing diapers, or waking up in the middle of the night to feed them. More than anything, being around children teaches me the value of innocence and maintaining a sense of wonder and appreciation for the smallest things.

I prefer taking care of children aged 0-3 years old, but having volunteered in an orphanage, I also know how to work with older kids and arrange activities for them.

If you are interested in hosting me, please know that I am sincere in my desire to be of help to your family in any way possible. I can cook simple dishes, do manual laundry and housekeeping, run errands, and can even take care of dogs, however, I cannot drive. I have neither piercings nor tattoos, and I do not smoke. I have no known allergies, and I am very easy to live with. I play team sports for fun, and I like to stay active! As a medical student, I also know how to perform basic first aid.

Rest assured that as a guest, I will do my best to adapt to your culture and make your life easier. I have traveled abroad in my younger years and have built close friendships with a few foreigners, so I can say that I will be able to adjust in a reasonable amount of time and will not be plagued by homesickness. I am known to be friendly, trustworthy, meticulous, and hard-working, which are traits that are highly required of this job. The mere thought of serving people, making them comfortable, and meeting their expectations excites me.

I have always wanted to travel and broaden my horizon, so I am taking this opportunity to do exactly that in my gap year and experience a cultural exchange. I believe this will be an enriching experience - one that is priceless and one that I will never forget for the rest of my life. Thank you very much for reading this far, and I look forward to hearing from you! Stay safe! :)
