Sunny Disposition and a heart full of love aupair looking for a family in Île-de-France
Dear Family
I am already very excited about getting to know you. But, first of all, I would like to introduce myself to you.
My name is Sabi Mthethwa. I am 27 years old and originate from the beautiful sunny South Africa in the bustling city of Johannesburg. My mother and father, who are happily divorced, have shown me the beauty of partnership and that love transcends all boundaries and limitations regardless of any situations. As best friends, my parents have raised 4 independent, intelligent and wise women and one very respectful and loving son. Me being the 3rd child of the 5, I was often offered the freedom to express myself and journey into uncharted territories.
In African culture, the family unit often consists of a larger family that lives under one roof, raised by the maternal grandmother. This means on any given day I would have aunts, uncles, cousins and no less than 10 people sleeping under one roof. Growing up in such an environment taught me how to appreciate the immense capacity of love, sharing and understanding. My grandmother would often take in those without lodging, offer food to the hall of kids that would fill up our back yard and ensure we knew the significance of giving by happily giving away all our toys and clothes when we had become tired of them or no longer fit our taste. All of this is a culmination of the woman that I am today.
I would describe myself as a reliable and caring person, who tries to make the best out of every situation by offering innovative approaches and a soothing and sunny disposition. Having studied and worked in the media and fashion industry, I have learned to employ my creativity to offer an authentic and original perspective to any problem. When I'm not busy with my fashion line Lemon Meringue or my production company Lemon Sawdust, I usually spend it learning and meeting new people or exploring new environments. As a creative, I like to feed my curiosity by challenging myself and my environment to think and do things out of the box. Reading, writing, sewing and graphic designing are personal favourite pass times when seeking quiet time or relaxation. I speak numerous African languages including Zulu, xhosa and Sotho however I am fluent in English with excellent reading and writing skills.
I am highly active and often partake in team sports and exercise.
When it comes to child caring experience, I have been privileged to serve as a youth leader in church for the past 3 years from 2016 to 2019. I have an insatiable love for children of all ages and have worked with children from as young as 1 year old all the way to young adults of 18 & 19. I believe in a respectful approach in acknowledging each individual child's need and working accordingly to achieve a positive, educational and encouraging environment. Furthermore, I have experience in taking care of senior individuals as my grandmother who recently passed early this year struggled with heart problems and thus was living with myself and my family during her final battle. Again the approach of respect is important in this case to ensure that they still maintain the dignity they deserve but also receive the much needed help.
As far as preferences are concerned, I am looking for a live-in arrangement with a host family, that would be happy to have me stay with and work for them for at least 6 months. I have no restrictions of the age range of the child however over 1 years is preferred. I am also willing to accept offers to take care of senior individuals. Lastly, although I am quite flexible, I would prefer to have working hours that would allow me to have two days of the week off.
I would be happy to have the opportunity to speak with you: to answer whatever questions you may have about me or my experiences; to learn more about your family; your interests and to know more about what you expect from the au pair arrangement.
Thank you very much for your interest in my application!
I look forward to hearing from you.
