Experienced au pair & household manager available AUGUST 2020!

**UPDATE** I am currently under contract in France for the 2019 - 2020 academic year. I am available starting in AUGUST 2020; feel free to reach out and connect if interested!

My professional goals lie in the realm of youth development, advocacy and education. I have completed a bachelor's degree in psychology and at-risk youth/child care from La Crosse University located in Wisconsin (United States). My experience working with children and families includes: academic instruction and tutoring, clinical therapy and before/after-school child care. Not to mention active outdoor settings- including organized athletics (sport teams), fitness training, scout programs and summer camps.

Developing meaningful relationships, preparing nutritious meal options, performing household management tasks, teaching valuable social and emotional skills, promoting a love of language learning, planning community outings, it is all part of my commitment as a child care provider.

I look forward to hearing from you and am excited to talk more about your family's needs!

ABOUT ME:

I have a natural curiosity regarding new places and people- hence my interests in archaeology and psychology during university. I have an easy-going, calm demeanor; and I like to think that I am a compassionate, determined and hardworking individual as well! My idea of a fun night with friends would include catching-up on life events while eating a big meal and playing board games or cards together. A proponent of sport as a great outlet for youth development and healthy living, I have had the opportunity to participate in/coach a variety of activities including: baseball, basketball, soccer, track and wrestling- I always enjoy trying out new sports! Camping is one of my favorite leisure activities; involvement in the Boy Scouts of America program has enabled me to experience sailing, mountain biking, skiing, kayaking/canoeing, rock climbing, shooting sports, and the like.

Here's a quick highlight of some of my work/volunteer experience:

(1) Live-in au-pair for a family in France with children ages 8 and 11.
(2) Live-in au-pair for a family in Belgium with children ages 9 and 12.
(3) Live-in au-pair for a family in Italy with children ages 5 and 7.
(4) Assistant teacher in a childcare center serving children ages 6 months to 5 years old.
(5) Behavioral therapy for children diagnosed on the autism spectrum.
(6) North Star Camp for Boys assistant program director, wilderness program director, and senior counselor.
(7) Volunteer adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America program.
(8) Elementary school tutoring for children ages 5 to 13 years old.
(9) Numerous child care positions within my network of families.
(10) Residential Associate at Riverfront, Inc. assisting adults with disabilities within group home settings.

I would love to provide you with more information regarding my history/experiences if interested!

WHY DO I WANT TO BE YOUR AU PAIR?

All of my au pair experiences have provided great opportunities to combine my passion for youth development with my desire to travel, experience new places/cultures and meet incredible people.

A few strengths I find applicable:

(1) My aptitude for planning and logistics makes me particularly well suited to develop projects/activities for the children I am working with, as well as tackle household management/scheduling tasks.

(2) I have found a great deal of success in my ability to manage challenging behaviors and resolve conflict; I attribute this in large part to empathy and relationship development.

(3) I excel at character development (e.g. helping to model/teach children values that will help them be happy and healthy); this is an area where I work extra hard to ensure that I am promoting values and attitudes which are important to the family.
