Au pair from Sweden called Nicole, 18, looking for a job with a nice family, statting from 1st of January, 2019!
Dear family,
My name is Nicole. I am an 18 year old girl who is currently taking a break from studies because I want to explore the world and work with children. In about a year or two, I plan to continue with my studies but I'm still trying to figure out what I want from life and what I want to specialize in.
So, at the moment, I would like to take some time out of the world of studying, to have a different life experience, and to have time to calmly reflect on my future academic/professional orientation. To this end, I think spending a year abroad would be particularly interesting. I come from a family of 6: my mother, stepfather, two sisters and a brother. Both of my sisters have moved out of the house and are now living in Stockholm and New York, pursuing their own dreams and careers. My first language is Swedish, considering that's where I grew up and have lived ever since, but I am also half polish and have basic knowledge skills of French and Polish. I also speak English fluently.
When it comes to child care experience, I am actually currently having an internship at a kindergarten/pre-school and I mostly take care of children from ages 1-5. I have also informally taken care of my sisters kids and my cousins growing up, considering I early had to take on a grown up roll. I have also volunteered at a homeless shelter for kids, where I have spent time trying to find families for them and helped out with food, clothes, bathing and so on.
When it comes to leisure, I take pleasure in the simple things in life. I enjoy being outdoors, being with my friends, trying out new things, learning new stuff, going for walks, visiting places I have not been to, meeting new people and reading a good book. I also enjoy painting - although I am not very good at it - and being outdoors most.
As far as preferences are concerned, I am looking for a live-in arrangement with a host family, that would be happy to have me stay with and work for them for at least 6 months. I would also prefer looking after children aged between 6 months to 10 years. Lastly, although I am quite flexible, I would prefer to have working hours that would allow me to have at least 1-2 hours to studying or exploring the country.
