Hi!
My name is Phyllis Laverne Manubay from the Philippines. But my friends call me Vern.
I live in a small city called Tacloban, which you may have heard about in the media a couple of years ago when Super Typhoon Yolanda landfalled.
I am 22 years old but my height is probably small for that age. Nonetheless, I do have much to offer!
I am a cheerful and open-minded person who likes to be with friends and do some new or adventurous things such as: hiking, surfing, going to the beach or exploring new places.
I enjoy cooking, singing, dancing and travelling.

I grew up in an institution called SOS Kinderdorf for almost all my life before I moved into an apartment with my biological brothers 2 years ago. Surrounded by a big family in SOS, I had a lot of experiences taking good care of my smaller siblings (not biologically) and especially took care of my little brother Dexter since he was 6 months old. He is already 6 years old now. Growing up there expanded my compassion and love for children.

I decided to do an Au Pair abroad for I wanted to expand my knowledge and horizon.
Since I am a local volunteer for AFS Intercultural Exchange Programs for 7 years already, I was given the opportunity to meet exchange students and volunteers from around the world, since I welcome them to the Philippines and help them with any concerns they may have.
I especially made many German life-long friends during my AFS volunteer journey which is why I decided to be an Au-Pair in Germany.

My goal is to learn more about German culture and language and being able to bring a bit of my own culture to the people in Germany.
I strive for an intercultural exchange and hope to find a warm family, willing to share their culture with me and letting me into their lives.


I am looking forward to be given the opportunity to be an Au Pair for a year in Germany!
