Nanny/au pair from Philippines who is happy and who loves children :)
My name is Sheena, but my friends call me Mai. I am 26 years old nanny / au pair and live in a small town in Philippines
Dear Host Family,
My name is Sheena Cataluna. I am 25 years old. I am currently working in Kuwait as Domestic Helper. I am looking after my employer's kids and does all the cleaning and cooking. My contract with them will end in November 2018.
I have 2 sisters and a brother. They live with my mother in a small village in the Philippines. My father has a new wife and has 3 kids with her. At the moment, I am the bread winner of our family since my father stopped supporting us because he has a new family. I then decided to start working as a nanny in the Philippines and looked after my employer's kids.
I graduated high school last 2010 and enrolled myself in a Vocational Course as a Housekeeper last 2015 and I have also attached my certificate.
In my spare time, I love to dance, play badminton,go on adventures, hiking, travelling, swimming and watching movies. Last winter my Employers in Kuwait brought me in the desert mountain with their children. We have travelled 4hours just to go there. We stayed there for a month since it was the kids school holidays. Since Middle East is known to be very hot, they like the Winter time the most especially when it rains. My employer loves to camp and make their tent. During our stay in the desert, we slept in the tent, made bonfire and played with the kids. I helped the kids to make a small house and i was assigned in the kitchen to make food for them. In a short amount of time we stayed there i experienced one of the Arab Culture - dancing at night while lighting the bonfire. I also learned the "do's" and "dont's" in their beliefs since they are "Islam". I enjoyed our mini vacation at the desert because their children wanted me to play with them and we had lots of fun playing hide and seek, driving the motorcycle and many more.
I would love to become your next Au Pair because I love children and I enjoy spending time with them. I am prepared and I am well aware of the fact that being like a big sister for your children comes along with great responsibilities and it will not always be just play and fun. My calm and patient personality will help me to master more difficult situations for instance when the kids are tired or don't want to listen to me.
I expect that in the first couple of days I will be exhausted at night because I guess taking care of children the whole time can be tiring. But I am sure that I will adapt to the new tasks and daily routine quickly and become a big help for you.
Living with me is really easy as I am not a demanding person. I do respect that the house is your house and that I have follow your house rules. If something works not quite as it should, I prefer to talk instead of ignoring things.
I have spent a longer time abroad and so I am now used to not seeing my family and friends. Since i came here I've never had a day off or restime. That was the most terrible part of my experience in Kuwait. I felt depressed at first because i cant go anywhere or even go to the mall to get my personal needs and to refresh my self from working all day. The only time i am able to go out is only if my employer will bring me with them. I don't think I will be home sick after all of the things i've been through here. My contract will finish in November. I thank God a lot because he guided althroughout my contract. Even though I suffered emotionally and mentally, I was able to cope and believed in myself. I am now stronger than before
