Hello future Au Pair family! Nice to meet you!
I am Karina, 28, Filipino. My family and friends fondly know me as Kim.
With a university degree in Education with English as my major, I have had several experience working with kids and young adults. You can trust that I am well-organized, neat, take accountability for childcare, and honest.
I am currently based in Cebu City, a commercial and business district in the Visayas region. Living on my own, I take charge of my laundry, ironing, and other light chores.
On weekends or long holidays, I visit my mom and sister, who turns 18 this year. As my sister was growing up, I had several experience taking care of her, sending her to school, and guiding her with her homework (sometimes even until now :))
Since I was eight years old, I had already been taking care of my three cousins and my sister, from being newborn to their teenage years. Our activities together included basic food preparation, playing, reading, bathing and bedtime among others. In between, I also helped my mom a bit in looking after my late grandmother who had Parkinson's disease. These experiences taught me to be more responsible and patient.
I like spending my free time watching movies, reading, going to art fares and museums, concerts, or when given more time, trekking and doing some photography.
If my Au Pair application is successful, this will have been the first time that I am able to live abroad. Please rest assured though that I can be flexible and easily picks up on things.
Moreover, I am equally eager to learning a new language and going to new and exciting places! Someday, I hope to go backpacking, apply for a scholarship, or work again in a nonprofit organization.
