Au pair from Indonesia, 23 years old, looking for a job with a nice family!
Hello there, I am an Indonesian, usually called Hida. I live in a small town and have graduated from university. I am 23 years old. I'm fond of languages and cultures. Basically I am open to any countries and nationalities.
I used to babysit my brother when he was small. I also have an older sister, who is now married. I don't have any experience aboard even though I want to. I have been babysitting my little cousins, although not full-time, since I was thirteen. My hobbies are reading, writing, and like to learn new things. Currently I have my own small business with my cousin. I'm also an English teacher. I want to be a successful entrepreneur one day, besides become a writer.
At home, my day /week normally (in general) looks like this: - I get up around 4.15 am everyday since I have to do early morning prayer then I recite the Quran (Islamic holy book). I'd like to inform you that as a Muslim, I do prayer five times a day. - When I have to work (teaching English in a Junior High) that day, I plan the lesson and correcting the students' assignment. I teach every Monday to Thursday in the afternoon. Sometimes in late afternoons and early evenings I teach my other students, privately. - I sleep around 9.30 - 10.00 pm everyday (not too late) and I don't eat too much (my weight is ideal).
My preferred parenting style is when parents care about the education, not only general but also spiritual/religious education (if they have a religion). I also like when parents let the children to explore (learning by doing), not spoiling the children and telling about moral values.
I was born in a modest, middle-class family so I'm accustomed not to get everything I want. My parents told me to live in modesty and didn't ask too much what I didn't really need. As a child I wasn't too fond about this but now I realize how important it is in life.
At home I have no 'official' duties but I help with light home care, such as cleaning, assisting in cooking, sometimes watering the plants and look after my cousins.
My favourite dishes are Some European food like burgers and pizzas and (of course!) Indonesian food which is rich of spices!
I can't ride a car but I can ride a motorcycle, so I have a driving licence for riding motorcycles only.
I never go abroad, that's why I want to be an au pair. Also, taking care of foreign children seems nice and can help me learn new cultures. Basically I'm open to any countries, not just the countries which have listed on my profile.
I hope to gain childcare experience (which I think will taught me a lot, including patience), learning language(s) and cultures from being au pair
I realized that I want to become an au pair when I was still a student in university. My major was English Education. In a listening class, I found a sentence about a term that I had never seen or heard before, which was 'au pair'. When I found out about au pair's meaning I suddenly wanted to be an au pair.
My perfect host family would be of course a loving family who is not only the parents love the children and the children love the parents, but also they love the au pair, doing things together
When working with children I find most rewarding when they like me, care for me, obey me and call me in an affectionate way.
While in the host country, I'd like to see / visit anywhere! (including mountains and beaches). In my free time / on weekends / during holidays I'd like to stay at home, watch television, read, meet friends, travel, learn the language.
To introduce you to my culture, I'd like to cook typical meals for you, teach traditional songs, languages and games to your children.
When I finish au pairing, I hope my language skill will be improved, hopefully learn another language, open my mind with diversity and others which I haven't explored yet.
After my au pair experience, I'd like to find a new host family or return to my country to work/continue my business.
