Jessa from the Philippines, age 26, looking for a family who will welcome me in their home on January 2018!

DEAR FAMILY,

Hello! My name is Jessa Nazarita Nagal, 26 years old, from the Philippines. I am a Food Technologist by profession and I have few years of experience working in the food industry. I got my first job as an Assistant Kitchen Supervisor at an internationally-renowned Filipino fine dining restaurant called Max's Restaurant. Later on, I moved in a tuna processing industry, Century Pacific Foods Inc., where I worked as a Research and Development Specialist.

I want to be an Au Pair because I want to experience how it is to live in another country, learn their unique culture and way of living, and to be welcomed by a family who will treat me as a sister or as a friend. I believe I can be of good service with my host since I enjoy doing household chores, a little bit of cooking and love family gatherings and celebrations. I am also fond of taking care and teaching kids, although I don't have any professional experiences in child care. I have a two-year old niece and I enjoy singing, dancing and playing with her! I also teach young kids and teens in our local church during Sunday School classes. I also take part in organizing our church's Daily Vacation Bible Schools and camping every summer.

Thank you for taking time to read my letter. I can't wait to meet you very soon!

Yours truly,
Jessa

ABOUT ME

My family lives in a simple and humble town in Maitum, Sarangani Province where fishing and farming is the main source of livelihood. My Father is currently managing our farm and my Mother works as a government employee in our municipality. I have an elder sister who is an Au Pair in Europe while my brother stayed home to put up his own rice retail store. Growing up in the province taught me how to become contented even if we don't have plenty. At school, I strived hard to become the excellent student and leader that I desired to be. At a young age, I have learned how to live independently specially when I entered college when I can only go home during semestrial and holiday breaks.

While my sister is into cooking and my brother is into sports, I am more into music. I love to sing and play musical instruments like the keys and guitar. I used to have piano lessons when I was a kid and played in recitals, however, my skills are not as good as when I was still young but I still sing in our church and take part in the music ministry.

I also love spending time with family and friends and talk about dreams and all the deep things in life. What excites me most is when we talk about business ideas since I also dream of putting up my own restaurant or coffee shop someday. Although I am not as good as my sister in terms of cooking, I know my cooking skills has improved a lot. But what I can assure is that when I cook, I pour my heart out!

WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE AN AU PAIR?

My last job involves managing a business in our area and due to the demand of work and tight schedules, my balance between work and personal life has been compromised. I decided to leave because I feel like I have been missing a lot in life! I realized I haven't explored myself yet and I don't want to grow old without memories to share to my children or grandchildren. When I'm old, I don't want to look back and regret that I haven't fulfilled my dream to explore and take on new adventures in life. It has really been my greatest dream to travel, meet friends from the other side of the globe and experience new cultures. I have been to four Asian countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and South Korea, and it is really my hope to reach Europe or America.

I also want to take the opportunity of being an Au Pair to earn while I work with my host family and to give them the best service, help or support that I can offer. Family really matters to my heart and it is also my desire to connect with them emotionally, mentally and spiritually. I don't have a lot of expectations but I just want my family to welcome me and make me feel at home.
