Au pair with experience, from Poland, 25, looking for a job with a nice family, starting from September
Dear family,
First of all I want to thank you for consideration. I would like to introduce myself that you could know me best.
I believe I am sensible, tolerant, intelligent, flexible and helpful person. I'm rather introvert than extravert. But it doesn't mean I don't like people–I always have a few close friends.
I don't like to argue because I think that quiet–but assertive- conversation can solve the problem. Some people who don't know me good think that I am shy and first impression could be that–but my friends know that I am open, sometimes even talkative person (but I'm afraid it's a little harder in second language).
I have two younger siblings. My brother is younger 6 y.o. and sister is younger 9,5 y.o. Because I'm older a few years and because of my studies, moving to another country etc. we don't have such good contact as I'd wish. My sister is very similar to me if we talk about personality, my brother is more extravert.
I was born in east-south Poland in small village. My province is very beautiful and I miss my family home a lot. For a few years I lived in Warsaw where I studied. I also studied in Cracow, second of polish biggest cities – and probably one of the most beautiful. I love knowing history and living in this cities gave me that opportunity.
I studied polish philology (I have Bachelor's degree) and information science and librarianship (Master's degree). Now I help as volunteer in Polish Library. I'd like to work as librarian in future, maybe in children's library.
I like travelling, but with someone–I prefer sharing experiences and choosing things to do with some other person. It's not so funny on my own.
My other passion are another cultures. Actually I don't have favourite one. I just like talking with people from another countries about their live and cultures. This is also why I'm interested in different languages–I love the way how language showing us seeing the world by different nations and their cultures. That is also one of reasons why I love reading.
Why I want to be an au pair? Well, I have a big heart for children. I had many lectures at university about child development and 150 hours practice at school's library and I gave lessons in different types of schools as well–so I had contact with children in different age. This is really fascinating and developing-watching, how children see the world. My mum works in kindergarten and I have younger siblings, so I think this thing just runs in my blood. But-well, I'm au pair in England now and I think only living with children gave me a lot of new experiences, understanding and simply love. I've already missed my host children and they don't want me to go too-when I hear “I love you” I want to cry. Au pair program has one bad thing for me–ending. I hate leaving children. This is heartbreaking for me. But I have to move up with my own life too-I always knew one day I want to move to Norway and make another new experiences.
Of course it's not all about children. I would like to know better new culture and language. Scandinavian society always seems the best for me. I like how modern and open it is, because I believe in equality of all people–all races, religion, sexual orientation, gender etc. There is still so much to do in that case.
I also started to learn Norwegian last time – it's really interesting language!
What I expect from the host family? Mutual understanding. They should know au pair is kind of the part of their family, not a slave or the cheapest worker. I think person who take care of your children should be important to you. But also they should know that au pair has their own life and give her privacy, if she needs. And vice versa!
I hope you could get to know me better from this letter. I am ready to get in touch with you at any time if you need some more information. Please do not hesitate and contact me!
