Fun, motivated English/Japanese/French/Russian speaking 19-year-old

My name is Anastasia. I am a 19-year-old student at Warwick University where I am currently in my second year of studying French and Japanese. Beforehand, I was homeschooled and so I find University different, but quite refreshing. My main residence is in London. I am half Russian half English so I speak both languages at home. I am basically fluent in French which I have been learning for over 10 years and have an intermediate level of Japanese.

I come from a family of 5 which consists of my parents, my older sister and my younger sister. My younger sister, Sophie, is homeschooled and is doing her IGCSEs at the moment. I teach her French and help with her speaking skills (in French) when I travel back home on breaks. My eldest sister, Masha, who has just graduated from GSA acting school, is now doing an Open University degree in Humanities and a play writing course. My mother is Russian and teaches my little sister at home. She is also an artist and studied at a prestigious art school in Russia. My father is a social worker with whom I enjoy discussing questions involving psychology; it is an aspect that interests us both intensely.

In my free time, I take pleasure in art, drawing, reading, films, and playing piano (grade 6). I am also grade 8 in classical ballet and grade 8 in drama (LAMDA). I was in the feature film Anna Karenina. I enjoy sports and am a competitive figure skater (NISA level 10) competing nationally in the UK (and in British Championships). At university, I do Trampolining and am now a qualified level 1 Trampolining judge. And in taekwondo, I am a green stripe (belt) at the moment. On the quieter side, I also enjoy going for walks, picnics and visiting new places. Writing is also one of my past times; during the summer I began to form a plot for a period novel that I wish to write.

As to child care experience, I have had experience in both formal and informal contexts. I have recently aupaired in Italy in the summer of 2016 which I enjoyed a lot. The Italian family were very kind and it was genuinely fun to be part of their family so I would love to aupair again. I have also volunteered in Morocco where I taught English in school and to street kids while also organizing and playing both indoor and outdoor activities with them. I found it extremely fulfilling and I was ever animated in their company. During my time in college, while I was doing my A levels, I taught French at two primary schools where I arranged and gave the lessons. Among other experiences I've had, I was also a leader for 3-5 year olds at a summer camp in my Church (Rainbow Club) and also helped out at Cheeky Monkeys (a crèche at my Church for babies). I also have experience teaching my little sister French (ever since she started learning it last year). I can comfortably say that I sincerely enjoy spending time with children.

With my experience, I am confident in my ability to occupy children in a way that is fun and educational. However, I like to focus more on having fun since if children have a good association with an English aupair/teacher they are more likely to want to talk or learn the language. This cultural immersion from both sides is precious. I would also love to share my language since being knowledgeable in languages is a skill which is growing undeniably more useful around the world and so allows for better prospects in a child's future. I have found that working with children, even if it may be trying at times, has always been very rewarding, satisfying and invigorating.

After spending my year abroad in a France/Japan, I will go back to university to complete my degree. I have yet to decide what I want to do after my degree and my future area of specialization so aupairing is an ideal opportunity for me to expand my life experiences while giving me time to reflect on my future options and professional orientation. To this end, I think that spending a time abroad would be particularly interesting.
